Zomato (previously Urbanspoon) is proud to present The GC Collection, a list of favourite restaurants across 12 cities globally, curated by the MasterChef judge George Calombaris.
Users will be able to tap into George’s expertise by browsing curated collections from the renowned chef, restaurateur, and judge. George has personally selected restaurants in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth to recommend to Zomato users, with the recommendations appearing in collections for each city on both the Zomato app and website.
Australian Country Manager Kate Parker says George’s curated collections present Aussie diners with a unique opportunity.
“George is an absolute expert when it comes to sensational dining experiences and we’re extremely proud to be able to pass on that knowledge to our users. These collections are curated by George Calombaris, so it’s a real opportunity to get inside the head of someone who knows Australian dining inside and out. Zomato is all about making connections – connecting people to food, connecting restaurants to customers, and connecting foodies to each other. Now, we get to connect our users to one of Australia’s most well-known restaurateurs by sharing his favourite places to eat.”
George says curating the Zomato collections were a personal exercise in discovery.
“Food for me is religion, it’s who I am. Food is my passion and I love cooking. It’s nothing but serving love on the plate. Every restaurant I selected for the collections reflects that love. They’re each outstanding and inspiring in their own unique ways, and I hope my curated collections help people discover something they love.”

Zomato is the world’s leading food discovery platform, with local teams in 22 countries connecting users to the dining experiences they’re searching for. In January 2015, the tech start-up acquired Seattle based Urbanspoon.
In February, Zomato began building their Australian team with a national headquarters in the Melbourne CBD. There are currently 150 team members in Australia, based in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Perth, and Adelaide, with more to be hired by the end of the year.
