Iconic South Australian family-owned jeweller, Gerard McCabe, is celebrating an extraordinary 40 years in business and, to mark the milestone, is revisiting the archives to share four decades of exceptional jewels.
Founded on April 1st, 1986, by Gerard and Pauline McCabe, the award-winning Adelaide jeweller has become known for exquisite craftsmanship, rare gemstones and timeless design. Now, the McCabe family is inviting customers past and present to help celebrate the milestone by sharing the meaningful stories behind their treasured pieces.

From engagement rings and family heirlooms to anniversary surprises and milestone birthday gifts, the team wants to hear it all. These customer stories will form part of an anniversary campaign, wrapping up with a special exhibition this May at the brand’s Adelaide Arcade store, with a showcase of the powerful role jewellery plays in life’s most significant moments.
“Pieces of jewellery are enriched with stories and history,” shared founder Gerard McCabe. “After four decades in business, we want to uncover them. We hope to hear stories of the role they have played in our customers’ lives.”

The 40-year celebrations have already begun, unfolding across a full calendar of events throughout 2026, honouring the brand’s achievements and innovation, and a family legacy that extends back nearly 150 years.
The McCabe family’s story in South Australia dates back to 1878, when Gerard’s great-great-grandfather Patrick established McCabe Tailors on Hindley Street. Across the next century, the family trade evolved from tailoring into jewellery manufacturing and retail.

Now, that legacy continues with two of Gerard’s children, Jessica and Justin McCabe who lead the business from its flagship boutiques in Adelaide Arcade and Rundle Mall. The brand has earned a reputation for curating one of Australia’s finest contemporary and antique jewellery collections, alongside custom engagement rings, luxury pink diamonds and one-of-a-kind vintage finds.
“By long association in the business, we know not only our trade but our customers and our beautiful city down to the bones. As well as providing careful attention and expertise, we’ve also had the privilege of being part of our customers’ most special moments, which we would love to share as part of our 40-year celebrations.”

For Jessica and Justin, the anniversary is a celebration and a responsibility. “We feel so privileged when a client chooses to celebrate their special occasion with one of our designs. Our mission is to honour and grow the good work that our forebears started and to pass on the dream to our children. From our family to your family serving you, generation after generation. The success of this dream rests on the shoulders of those wonderful staff who have chosen to share this journey with us,” they shared.
Customers who have purchased a piece are encouraged to submit their story via the Gerard McCabe website.
