Get Creative With These New Crazy Fun Workshops

Always wanted to make your own jewellery, learn to sew or harness some hand lettering skills? Home of Australia’s most unique creative classes – Work-Shop – has expanded its creative crusade to Adelaide.
Work-Shop offers fun, affordable and ridiculously diverse short courses in arts, crafts and life skills. Classes range from street art and tattoo illustration, to botanical watercolours, calligraphy, leather wallet making and everything else you can possibly dream of.
The idea behind Work-Shop started over a beer when co-founders Chester Garcia and Matt Branagan were in a pub watching people robotically stare into their digital devices. They started brainstorming ways that they could ween people off their phones to have more tactile, real life experiences.
‘Our goal was to get people to step outside the distractions of everyday life and experience the joy of making things using their hands, hearts and minds. As you get older, you forget how fun and fulfilling it is to learn something new,’ says Garcia.
This was in June 2013, and the guys have been on fire ever since. The Work-Shop team has unlocked people’s creativity with locations in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Northern Rivers. Art and community are at the heart of what they do so opening an Adelaide chapter made perfect sense.
‘Adelaide is an emerging hub of creativity and, with it’s strong community values, we felt that it would be a great fit. We collaborate with local artists and industry experts to teach classes, and provide an inspiring environment where you can meet like-minded people,’ says Branagan.
Work-Shop Adelaide will be led by Taylor Peplow Ball, who is enthusiastic about getting things off the ground and introducing something new to the city. ‘I’m stoked that Adelaide is the newest addition to the growing Work-Shop family. There is such a thriving artistic culture in Adelaide – we all love to support local small businesses and creatives to help them grow and keep doing unique things, so I think Work-Shop will fit right in,’ says Peplow Ball.
Classes start on the 16th of May, led by some of Adelaide’s (and Australia’s) brightest creative minds. If you’ve got a mad skill and are keen to teach a class, they’re urging local creatives to get in touch.
Keep an eye on the website for a fresh list of entertaining and unique classes led by creative legends. Get ready to unleash your inner awesome and find new passions and talents that you never knew you had.
