Get fired up for a crafternoon of hat burning and fluffy cow cuddles in Kuitpo this July

Get creative in the countryside this July with hat burning, Highland cows and local brews at Kuitpo Hall.

There’s something beautiful about the country in winter. Crisp air, rolling hills, and the kind of charm you only find away from the suburbs and the city. Now add a couple of fluffy, adorable Highland cows, a crackling fire, and a bit of hands-on creativity to the mix.

That’s exactly what’s on offer on Saturday 5 July, when Kuitpo Hall hosts Hat Burning & Highland Cows, a unique experience where country calm meets artistic fun.

The day will be run by The Brush Bar, known for crafting hands-on events that go beyond the usual paint and sip. This time, the canvas is a felt hat or rustic bag, and the tool of choice is fire.

Guided by friendly instructors, guests will use wood-burning tools and a mix of design stencils to personalise their piece. There’s also the chance to go completely freehand if you’re feeling adventurous.

Adding a charming twist to the day is a visit from the most photogenic animals in the paddock. A pair of Highland cows will be part of the event, ready for pats, selfies and gentle feeding. These shaggy Scottish sweethearts are known for their fluffy coats and surprisingly calm nature.

They’ve become a bit of an Instagram sensation across South Australia, popping up at boutique experiences and drawing crowds wherever they go.

To add to the country vibe, every guest will enjoy a complimentary drink from Kuitpo Brewing, a small-batch local label that channels the spirit of the nearby forest into every pour.

Whether you’re rounding up your craftiest mates or heading up for a solo adventure, this winter workshop promises a mix of laughter, new skills and rural relaxation.

Once you’ve finished creating your design, you can dress it up with twine, feathers or a splash of colour for a final touch. Your finished hat or bag is yours to keep, included in the ticket price.

Tickets are now available and spots are limited.
