Mark your calendars for an evening of elegance and purpose, as the Triple 0 Charity Ball will take centre stage at the Adelaide Convention Centre in December.
The black-tie event will celebrate the unwavering courage and commitment of emergency service personnel in South Australia. These dedicated individuals are the ones who swiftly answer the call when the number 000 is called, putting their lives on the line day in and day out to ensure community safety.
The special event is hosted by Brenton Ragless and will include a three-course dinner with drinks, a live auction and entertainment by the Baker Boys Band.
But the Triple 0 Charity Ball isn’t just a glamorous event; it raises essential funds to support those who stand at the forefront of our safety, including emergency services workers, volunteers, their families and students who are on their journey to becoming the next generation of paramedics.
The event is organised by, and raises funds for, the Australian Professional Firefighters Foundation, SA Police Legacy, Stafford Wulff Opportunity Scholarship in Paramedic Science, Flinders University and the CFS Foundation.
As exceptional demands continue to be placed on emergency services, these four esteemed charity partners are working to raise essential funds, creating impactful support programs catering to the needs of these frontline employees, volunteers, and aspiring students alike.
Each year the Stafford Wulff Opportunity Scholarship at Flinders University helps new Paramedic Science students facing financial hardship meet essential study costs, including 21-year-old Jessica Keane, who says the scholarship allowed her to continue her studies.
“This scholarship enabled me to buy my paramedic uniform and a quality stethoscope. It helped me to stay ahead of the stresses of starting a full-time university degree, instead of worrying about my financial position and whether I would even be able to afford to study to become a paramedic,” she says.
Jessica says her volunteer involvement in the CFS inspired her to study Paramedic Science at Flinders University.
“By helping emergency services and people on the scene of vehicle and motorcycle accidents I saw the difference paramedics can make at an incident and to the patients they treat. I hope to continue to help people in the community as much as possible and provide care with an open mind and support – just like I have received from this scholarship,” she says.
The event is endorsed by the Minister for Police and Emergency Services Joe Szakacs and the Minister for Health and Wellbeing Chris Picton.
“We all know how vital paramedics are in our community. They are often the first people we see when we need emergency medical attention. Initiatives like the Stafford Wulff Opportunity Scholarship at Flinders Uni are incredibly important to aspiring paramedics like Jessica to help them realise their dreams,” Minister Picton says.
Minister Szakacs says not only is the event a celebration and recognition of the sacrifice and dedication of our emergency services, but it provides one of the greatest opportunities to raise funds for charities that directly support our front-line crew.
“We need to support our police and emergency services so they can continue providing life-changing work under incredibly difficult circumstances. Their dedication to keeping our state safe is deeply appreciated and I look forward to recognising front-line personnel at the Triple 0 Charity Ball later this year,” he says.
