Get hitched on a ferry en route to Kangaroo Island

There’s now a new way to get married, with weddings, hens and bucks shows, now available on board a ferry to Kangaroo Island!

The Kangaroo Island Connect Ferry (KIC) is now offering couples the magical opportunity to say their nuptials aboard ship!

Live out your very own Pirates of the Caribbean fantasies by sailing to the shores of Kangaroo Island, with your soon-to-be hubby in one hand, and a bottle of rum (or champagne) in the other.

As your family and friends park up at Cape Jervis, guide them aboard the open-topped vessel and sail in style. The luxury ferry is a blank canvas for brides-to-be to (metaphorically) paint their dream wedding.

As the sun sets behind you and the ocean below glistens, your pre-wedding jittery heart will be eased knowing you gave your guests a stunning experience and saved money on styling and décor.

The trip is from Cape Jervis to Penneshaw is a speedy 30 minutes – just enough time for a standard ceremony. But don’t rush away! Dance on deck under the stars, pop the bubbly and take in the stunning views.

While further details from KIC are still pending, we can confirm the vessel has a liquor license and can comfortably transport 100 people – so the essentials are there. Throw in a celebrant, some live music, and Bob’s your uncle!

After you say your “I Do’s”, the world is your oyster. Continue the festivities ashore, or bid your guests goodbye and commence your honeymoon at Kangaroo Island.

Even though KIC is a passenger-only vessel, never fear. Hire a car, minibus, campervan or motorhome from the KIC Penneshaw Service Centre. This is a perfect option for globetrotters and restless souls looking for something adventurous and non-traditional.

But the adventure doesn’t stop there! The KIC team works closely with many local businesses and can provide discounts on accommodation, experiences, cellar doors, dining, and natural attractions. If you’re an experienced trekker, begin your next chapter as a couple by going on a Big Heart Adventures wellness walk. If you would prefer a more slow-paced trip, visit the newly refurbished cellar door at Wirra Wirra Vineyards.

As weddings come to an end, newlyweds hold their special days close to their hearts forever. But a wedding as unique as this? Your loved ones will not be quick to forget it either.
