Get Inspired By Nelson Mandela International Day

I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul
– Nelson Mandela

In the lead up to the celebration of Nelson Mandela International Day on July 18, South African Tourism is running an online competition calling on Australians to post their favourite inspirational thought on an app aligned with the South African Tourism Facebook page.

From today until 18 July, South African Tourism will be posting emotive quotes from ‘Madiba’ (Mr Mandela) and by simply sharing this and their own favourite inspirational thought in 25 words or less, fans will have the chance to win five special Nelson Mandela prize packs, as judged by a South African Tourism panel.

The fan who receives the most votes on their inspirational thought will be awarded the ultimate prize, receiving a Nelson Mandela Book of Quotes, South Africa Coffee Table book, South African Tourism passport wallet, picnic blanket and much more.

Nelson Mandela International Day aims to inspire individuals to take action and help change the world for the better, and in doing so build a global movement for good. Ultimately it seeks to inspire and empower communities everywhere.

“Take Action, Inspire Change and Make Every Day a Mandela Day is the motto of Nelson Mandela International Day and we are hoping that Australians join us in celebrating both the birthday of an incredible man, and the ongoing legacy that he has provided to the world,” says Lalie Ngozi, General Manager Australasia, South African Tourism.

Mr Mandela will turn 91 on July 18, 2012 and gave 67 of those years fighting to make the world a better place. To celebrate these 67 years, South Africa is encouraging people around the world to do good for 67 minutes on Mandela Day. Each person has the power to change the world, and from volunteering, to putting a smile on a friends face, every action makes a difference.
