After the Norwood Football Club claimed the SANFL Minor Premiership for 2024 over the Woodville-West Torrens Eagles, the Senior Men’s team are getting revved up and ready to take on the Central District “Dogs” for the SANFL Second Semi-Final this Sunday, 8th September, at Adelaide Oval.

The last time those two teams met in round 15, the Redlegs controlled much of the first half, before Centrals upped their game after half time. Ultimately the Bulldogs went down to the Redlegs by 42 points. Norwood are looking to continue their flawless record against the Central District Dogs.

Sitting at the top of the League ladder not only gives them bragging rights, they’ll also get another crack at making it to the Grand Finals if they don’t win this weekend in the Grand Final Preliminary Round on Sunday 15 September.

The men are eager to continue the legacy after winning the 2022 SANFL Premiership against North Adelaide, with the taste of victory still lingering, making this year’s bite at it all the more voracious.

If you missed out on the Minor Premiership game day glory, you can catch a dose of Norwood’s footy finals fever at Norwood FC’s Premiers Bar and Bistro, within the Wolf Blas Community Centre, on Thursday Supporters Night.

From 4pm to 6pm you can grab a $6 Coopers Beer or $6 Barossa Boys wine and catch up on all the excitement of this momentous occasion before settling into the Bistro from 5:30pm to watch the Senior Men’s squad train on Norwood Oval through the magnificent floor to ceiling windows. The demand for tables will be intense, so make sure you book your table via the Norwood FC’s Thursday Supporters Night webpage.

You might be a mighty Redlegs fan or a newcomer to Norwood who wants to get to know some locals. The doors are wide open for both.

You can enjoy a meal and soak up the warm village energy and leave it at that, or you can dive right in and chat with the locals about the latest game. Don’t worry if you missed it; you’ll be sure to find someone who’ll relay the highlights for you!

If you’re heading to the SANFL Semi Final and you want to cheer on the Redlegs, then head to the Cathedral Hotel for the Semi Final Official Supporter Gathering at 12pm with Norwood FC Hall of Famers, past and current Players (Reserves and injured) in attendance. Drinks from Coopers and Barossa Boys will be supplied, along with Vili’s pies, pasties, sausage rolls and other easy bites.

Red and blue attire, your loudest cheers and good-time goals are an absolute must.

You can either buy a bundled Gathering + Match Entry ticket, or if you’ve already scored your ticket for the match, then just grab your ticket for the gathering. Both ticket options are available from the Norwood FC Pre-match function page (links at the base of the page).

Once the pressure of the Grand Final has passed, the team can relax, enjoy a few drinks together, and recognise the players’ efforts at the 2024 NFC Club Champion Evening. During this event, the 2024 Club Champion will be awarded the Michael Taylor Medal.

Members and supporters are welcome to attend the event on September 27th at the “Observatory 23” Ballroom in Hackney. It’s not only a night for the players but for everyone who invests their heart, energy and time into supporting Norwood FC.

The Norwood FC has one of the largest membership bases in the SANFL and an impressive history of wins, including 31 SANFL Premierships and one SANFLW Premiership, fortifying its fans’ pride.

If you’re a latecomer to the action and you want to jump on board, all geared up and ready to cheer, then just head into the Norwood FC’s members and supporters office within the Wolf Blass Community Centre, to sign up for membership or to buy up on all the Red and Blue Army merchandise.

If you’re not scrambling to merch up before the big game, you can also head to the Norwood FC Online Merchandise Shop to stock up or become a member.

It’s never too late to join the Norwood FC community. Once a game’s final siren blasts, Norwood FC doesn’t close its doors. Both during and outside of the footy seasons, the club remains open, welcoming guests, keeping the community connected, and ensuring the much-needed funds flow to ensure the club, including the venue, players, and employees, continues to deliver goal-kicking experiences for their supporters and guests year after year.

Norwood FC Venue Manager Patrick shared his gratitude for being part of this unique and vibrant community, saying, “Norwood is so much more than just a football club. The connection it has with communities and associations across Adelaide is like nothing I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of before; from grassroots footy to hosting the AFL Gather Round, it brings people together from so many areas within Adelaide.”

The action never stops, so get on board now so you can share memories of a historic moment in the years to come with your fellow Norwood footy fans in years to come.

Whatever the outcome of this Sunday’s match, the Senior Men’s Squad deserve a mighty applause for their amazing effort this season, and the Norwood FC members and supporters, old and new, have been a vital part of what brought this Red and Blue brigade together for this exciting weekend ahead. Congrats to all!
