Get lost in nature at this award-winning Fleurieu Peninsula retreat

Nestled within the Deep Creek Conservation Park on the stunning Fleurieu Peninsula, Southern Ocean Retreats offer a range of accommodation styles within the park to suit not only your budget, but also your personality.

If it’s a little bit of R & R that you’re after, then look no further, because an award-winning getaway is just a leisurely drive away.

Nestled within the Deep Creek Conservation Park on the stunning Fleurieu Peninsula, Southern Ocean Retreats offer a range of accommodation styles within the park to suit not only your budget, but also your personality.

Each of the four different cabin styles has its own personal charm in a unique location and different furry friends that come to visit.

A stay at Ridgetop Retreat will have you sharing your breakfast with the friendly bandicoots and maybe even a visit from a family of kangaroos.

Owners Jane Formato & Barry Duykers are nature-lovers at heart and it is their passion for wildlife and the environment that drove them to create this space. A space where guests can come and revel in the beauty of the Fleurieu for longer than just one day.

“Most people book for one night and realise it’s still not enough time!” said Jane.

A strong sustainability practice runs throughout all of the accommodation options. Rainwater is used across all bathroom and kitchen amenities along with low impact LED lighting and extensive household recycling.

Jane and Barry also employ staff from the local area and use fresh, local produce whenever possible.

There’s no TVs in any of the lodges, but with so much to do within the park, who needs one?

Bushwalking is the main activity with walks varying from 30 minutes to five hours, so you can choose your own adventure depending on your level of commitment and fitness.

Jane said, the Blowhole Beach Walk and a quick Google search of the area will explain why.

There’s also the Deep Creek Waterfall which flows year-round and is the perfect setting for a picnic or some more animal spotting.

If the weather’s not cooperating, you can always just sit inside rugged up by the fire admiring the outside world through the stunning floor to ceiling windows.

Prices start at $175 a night for 2 people.
