Get On Your Bike And Visit The Velo Precinct!

A cafe, a spin class studio and a stunning setting… Seriously, add this one to ‘the list’

If you live in Adelaide then you are probably familiar with Victoria Park and its heritage listed grandstand…. But, are you aware that beneath this grandstand lies every coffee and food lover’s dream.

Velo Precinct

Oh yes. Say hello to Velo Precinct. This little surprise will have you wondering why you haven’t visited yet.

As the name suggests, this place has something to do with bikes (for those of you playing at home ‘velo’ means bike in French). And this is more than just a cafe.

But we will start there. Because that means food and coffee (our fave). The Velo Cafe offers everything from specialty coffee (their baristas serve up a mean cup of Dimittina) a scrumptious breakfast menu, plus delicious goodies like sharing platters, pizzas, pastas and salads.

It must be mentioned that they also have a specialised family cafe, Spokey Dokey (cute, huh). It features a play area and a full cafe menu that ensures the kiddies are totally catered for. Well that is a huge tick for all the parents out there!

And after the food comes Velo Spin. Gotta work off that delish custard filled Italian doughnut and all those coffees somehow, right? Well this place has it all. The yummy food and the means to burn some calories. Their high-tech indoor training studio uses the latest technology to see you get the most out of your workout. Did we mention that your instructor may also be a professional rider…

Velo Precinct Inside

Yes, this place is the vision and now reality of one Stuart O’Grady. Bike riding (and apparently cafe owner) extraordinaire! Along with his wife, Anne Marie, and another couple Angela and Nathan, Velo Precinct is definitely in good hands. And not to be outdone, it must be mentioned that Nathan played a cheeky 300 games of AFL football.

One thing that we can’t go past with this place is the awesomeness of the location. It really is so unique. The cafe boasts some of those heritage listed features including lead light windows, feature poles, intricate archways and the original red concrete flooring. Plus you can enjoy dining on the terrace that overlooks the parklands. That is pretty special. Given that it was the last space that the group checked out as a potential location, it turned out to be absolutely perfect. The team’s dream of just a spin class studio grew into so much more. And boy are we glad it did.

Yep, you know what to do… Pull out your trusty list and add this one on to it!
