Get Set For A Slick New City Wine Bar Opening In October

Undergoing extensive renovations, the National Wine Centre’s Wined Bar is set to reopen with a sleek and sexy new look

The National Wine Centre’s (NWC) popular Wined Bar is undergoing a major facelift, with an exciting new space designed for casual drinking and dining set to open early next month.

Work has started on the second stage of the Centre’s Wined Bar which offers the largest wine tasting experience in Australia.

Stage 1 saw the installation of 14 state of the art Enomatic preservation and dispensing machines last year, a major investment in the Hackney Road Centre’s long term offering.

NWC General Manager Adrian Emeny said the redeveloped space would herald a new era for the iconic Australian institution.

“After 18 months of operation, Wined Bar has proved to be a very popular offering, On review and comment from visitors, we’ve decided to further invest in the consumer experience with an improved offering that will provide greater accessibility, atmosphere and emphasis on food,” Mr Emeny said.

Food and wine matching will be more prevalent and we’re working on an exciting new menu that will compliment the extensive range of wines on offer.”

The new space has been designed by South Australian interior design company designthink. Director Patrick Caroscio said the space would have an urban feel and celebrate the vast range of wines on offer.

“It’s all about bringing the vineyard feel to the city. The building is quite iconic in Adelaide’s architectural landscape and we felt it was important to give the space a lift that reflected this presence and modernistic feel,” Mr Caroscio said.

The space will have natural, rustic finished and about 2500 wine bottles suspended from the ceiling.

The new look Wined Bar which houses 120 wines for visitors to sample from Penfold’s famous Grange to boutique wine labels, will open in early October.
