Back for its second year, Illuminate Adelaide is levelling up with the introduction of Base Camp. Serving as “Illuminate HQ”, Base Camp is a hub of activity, perfect for before or after an Illuminate show but also serves as an event in its own right.

ICE SKATING RINK

The main attraction of Base Camp is obviously the huge ice-skating rink and whether you’re a complete beginner or a bonafide Chazz Michael Michaels, you’ll be able to glide around the winter wonderland that is Victoria Square.

Beats will be playing while you whizz around the ring and live DJs playing each weekend to turn Base Camp Skating into the coolest party in town.

Sessions are available every 60 minutes during Base Camp hours.

Price:

Concession $20 (off-peak) / $25 (peak)
Adult $28 (off-peak) / $35 (peak)

ELECTRIC PLAYGROUND

Exclusive to Base Camp, Electric Playground features three exhilarating installations.

ORBIT:

This ground-breaking synergy of sound design paired with futuristic lighting effects, ORBIT is a cosmic experience inspired by the solar system with a dedicated soundtrack created by Adelaide musician, Motez.

Tickets are $20 with sessions running every 30mins during Base Camp hours.

SEEP:

A new installation exploring the experience of seeping and falling through light and white noise. Through the use of haze, light spirals, strobe effects and sub-frequency sounds, visitors are thrown into a feeling of disorientation, compression and release.
Tickets are $20 with sessions running every 30mins during Base Camp hours.

NEON VILLAGE:

A winter-themed playground on neon and multi-colour, these installations, created by Carla O’Brien, gives an immersive 3D multicolour experience. Take a photo with the penguin, have a ride on the glowing winter sled or give the big, neon snowman a hug!
