Adelaide’s Newest Pop-up Bar Is On A Beach. In The City.

Adelaide’s newest pop-up bar is on a beach. In the city.

beachThe 2014 Shorts Film Festival is daring to do what has never been done: It’s taking a film festival outside of the cinema and plonking it right in the middle of a beach. A beach that is right in the heart of the city.

Why is this such a big deal? Because the design genius Ross Ganf (the guy behind Adelaide Festival’s incredible Barrio and Lola’s Pergola set ups), is transforming the City Beach Volley Ball Courts into a pop-up bar called Frome Street Surf Life Saving Club. This thing is going to be damn good. The Golden Gullet and Alpha Box & Dice guys are also on board, supplying quality fish & chips and booze.

But when the sun goes down (well, a little bit after. 10.30pm to be exact) and the films come to an end, the venue will turn in to a full on beach party, with DJ Dexter from The Avalanches serenading the budgie smuggling public with his sweet sweet tunes.

But did we mention that this thing is only a four day event? Yep, we did. But it’s so unfortunate that we’re going to say it again. Locals will only have the opportunity to get down at the Frome Street Surf Life Saving Club from November 20-23.

To stay in the know, follow the Frome Street Surf Life Saving Club’s shenanigans on their Facebook page.
