Offering spectacular views over the gaping crystal rock-pools which run along the north coast of Kangaroo Island, this high-end beach shack offers an Island escape on a staycation budget.
88 acres of ambling land, with 800 metres of private coastal frontage make up this property, situated only 3km west of main Stokes Bay Beach. The secluded house is situated for optimum ocean views, and blessed with an abundance of wildlife.
The area offers many great walks/hikes, or, if you prefer, the house comes with free-to-use kayaks, a small boat, two Stand Up Paddle Boards and snorkelling gear.
The house provides a centralised base from which to take in the many attractions across the island, and accommodates 4 guests over 2 bedrooms. If you have tagalongs, a newly built outhouse is also available to be booked alongside the main residence, and there is plenty of camping space.
A new-ish rennovation has transformed the space, which now boasts two bathrooms, an expansive open lounge, dining area kitchen, plus a large deck with an outdoor sunken lounge with open fire pit.
With meandering entertainment areas, to the TVs in every room there are always options for playing host or chilling out. Limited WIFI connection, due the remoteness of the property, means you can truly unwind without constant email updates and social media notifications.
Cook under the stars on the decent gas BBQ, or well-equipped kitchen.
Explore the rocky cove at the front of the house, a stunning 5 minute walk through natural Sheoak forestation. Or, with a 4WD, you can drive down the wider path, (just be sure to take the left-hand turn at the cliff’s edge!) Take that to an opening on the right with steps down.
The house is practical and relaxed, in step with the Kangaroo Island way of life. The fully equipped kitchen gives you the option of catering in-house, but make sure you get supplies from Penneshaw or Kingscote on the way.
Book this Stokes Bay gem via Air Bnb. Rates start at $420 per night.
