Getaway: Clare’s Cosiest Cottage Retreat Comes Complete With A Sauna

Trestrail Cottage is perfectly suited for any couple seeking ambience with a rustic touch, serenity, and a whole world of privacy.

Hidden in a forest of rare red stringybark trees is a winding, narrow roadway up to a secluded hilltop retreat.

Trestrail Cottage is lovingly hand built and tastefully decorated by its owners, Sue and Vivian Ziersch, perfectly suited for any couple seeking ambience with a rustic touch, serenity, and a whole world of privacy.

This bed and breakfast oozes serenity and romance nestled atop the spectacular hills of Sevenhill in the beautiful Clare Valley.

The cottage is self contained with full kitchen facilities including an oven and microwave, bar fridge, pantry, and laundry.

Its decor boasts antique pieces and quality early settler style finishes from the handmade rustic timber table, the claw foot bath, historic, classic and environmental themed library collection to the old mixing bowls, heritage weaving implements and the massive timber feature beam.

You can also expect to enjoy a wood-stove hot rock sauna, cooling bush shower, bare earth bowling (like tennis on clay), a screened deck for summer sleeping, a meditative rock room, and BBQ.

One thing to note is that Trestrail Cottage does not have Wi-Fi because they want to challenge guests to unplug and “dare to be bare”.

If this sounds like your thing, the dwelling can be your home away from home with rates as following:

Winter Season

  • Weekend    $280 per night/per couple
  • Midweek      $250 per night/ per couple

Summer Season

  • Weekend    $250 per night/ per couple
  • Midweek     $220 per night/ per couple

Full local breakfast provisions are included for every morning you’re there and, in winter, you can also enjoy the blissful sauna steam therapy room surrounded by stringy bark gum trees.
