If you ever wanted to experience a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, then there is no better place to start than the Palace of the Lost City in South Africa.
From the moment you glimpse the hotel as you drive in to the grand entrance, you are taken away to another world. A lavish, divine world, where nothing is impossible.
This majestic palace is aptly named, as grand chandeliers, hand blown glass balustrades, impossibly high, ornate ceilings, and beauty greet you at every corner.
Frequented by South Africans looking for a weekend getaway, honeymooners, adventure seekers, families, Kings, celebrities and our own Australian royalty (Kylie Minogue stayed & played here in 2011), it was clearly the perfect place to begin our South African adventure.
The Palace of the Lost City sits within the Sun City resort complex, which means that if your heart desires something, you’re more than likely going to find it within Africa’s Kingdom of Pleasure.
There is the Valley of Waves (an incredible water park – more like a tropical paradise), a casino, one of the world’s best gold courses created by Gary Player, the Gatsby Day Spa, plus more activities than you can imagine and an abundance of beautiful restaurants to dine in.
Although you could choose to have an adventure stay or a blissful, relaxing getaway, we chose to mix things up and experience as many different things as possible.
We’ve gone quad biking, enjoyed a hot stone massage and soaked in the scenery around the Gary Player golf course on a Segway Safari. We’ve had champagne lunches poolside, we’ve danced to live bands at the casino and we’ve had a traditional African meal by a fire pit in the middle of a game park. We’ve gone on safari, taken to the air and viewed the wildlife by hot air balloon and we’ve had cocktails and canapés with the elephants. And we’ve only been here for four days so far!
Whatever you’re looking for, you’ll find it at the Palace of the Lost City. Just prepare to be enchanted by this magical place.
