Kangaroo Island is the ultimate eco-destination, where idyllic remote getaways are plentiful, and beautiful coastline views are a must.
As the island welcomes tourists back across the Backstairs Passage, there’s an amazing new, luxury accommodation option available for their holidaying pleasure. It’s also possibly South Australia’s most exclusive offering, with rates starting at $2100 a night. It’s truly bucket list material.
This Saturday, July 4th, Oceanview Eco Villas will be officially opened by Senator the Hon. Simon Birmingham, Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment. The opening will be live streamed on Oceanview Eco Villas’ Facebook page at 4:30pm ACST.
Oceanview Eco Villas is a fully hosted eco-luxury accommodation located on a 500-acre rural property on the clifftops at Nepean Bay on Kangaroo Island.
Property owners, Tim and Tamsin Wendt, have been fortunate to call Oceanview home for the past nine years and are excited to be establishing a new standard of off-grid, eco-luxury accommodation.
“Since building our own house on the property in 2011, Tim and I have dreamed of being able to share our piece of paradise with people from all over the world – and we’re so excited that this dream has become our reality” says Tamsin.
Their vision has not gone unnoticed, having been recently recognised by Departures magazine as one of nine eco-initiatives leading the global hospitality industry.
“We were so excited to receive such amazing recognition and it has certainly made us feel comfortable within the market despite being open only 10 months.”
Appointment of local trades and artisans throughout the build has allowed Oceanview to support Kangaroo Island and South Australian business, in a $1.3 million investment.
Each element of this project features careful attention to detail, with thorough research into sustainability and a minimal ecological footprint being a core determinant.
Bespoke furnishing, handcrafted by South Australian businesses, delivers on our luxury focus and proudly parochial operational stance.
Oceanview’s two villas are each two-bedroom/two-bathroom with generous living space and offering stunning coastal views of Nepean Bay.
Their off-grid, eco-design and build gives guests a personalised 5-star experience along with the good feelings that come with leaving a small footprint.
The villa’s guests tap into an ethos that seeks to both restore and give back to the environment.
This local connection continues with the food and service, with gourmet meals provided, plus a fully-stocked mini-bar, premium Kangaroo Island wines, and a solid focus on fresh, local produce, all served in the comfort and privacy of your own villa.
“We love the amazing produce that is available here on Kangaroo Island and we really enjoy working with and sharing the stories of so many of the amazing producers and suppliers on Kangaroo Island, further adding to our guest experience. The quality of the produce here is unmatched, which aligns well with our accommodation.
“We are confident of our future in bringing a new offering to the luxury accommodation market, that has a unique brand and adds to an already fantastic collection of South Australian products” said Tamsin.
