From the moment you step into Pike River’s Luxury Eco Villas, the majestic views and indulgent surroundings will remind you why you should be holidaying at home in South Australia more often.

Glam Adelaide were lucky enough to be invited to stay for the night in one of the luxury eco villas, and we can attest that they’re pretty impressive.

The Pike River Villas are situated on 15 acres of riverfront at the gateway of the Riverland and in the proposed National Tourism Landscape region of South Australia. With direct access to the Pike and offering majestic views of both the Murray and Pike River, the villas provide the perfect place to hide away or to spend time exploring this magnificent region by water, road or air.

There are a number of gorgeous villas to choose from, but we were lucky enough to stay in the first villa ever built on the premises in 2008, called Stone.

Definitely suited to a couple looking for a romantic getaway, the little villa is cuddled in the base of the solar farm on the property and features both fantastic outdoor and indoor spaces (and did we mention THE VIEWS?!!).

As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a dips platter, ingredients ready for us to cook up later in the fridge for dinner, and the sweetest (both metaphorically and literally) dessert to indulge in later on. There was even Lindt chocolate left on the bed side tables…

Every touch point is thought out, from the gorgeous sunken deck spa, to the overhead window in the bedroom which lets you look up at the stars, to the open wood fire with cosy leather lounge chairs in front.

The villas are fully self contained, meaning that while the owners are always contactable and on the property, you’re free to be left alone and fully soak up the remote ambiance of the area.

The Villa truely lets you rediscover the meaning of relaxation, while having the perfect base to explore the magnificent Riverland region….. If you can tear yourselves away!

With access to boutique wineries, national parks, quality golf courses and a diverse range of self guided or guided tourism experiences you will have the opportunity to choose how active your stay is and leaving you with more to explore on your next visit. Pike River is your ideal luxury base and within a short drive of all major Riverland towns.

There’s also another two apartments available for accommodation on the property, and one family-friendly option for those bringing the kids, or a group along.

The Pike River Dusk and Water apartment Villas can be joined via their outdoor decking area, or be booked separately, and feature:

  • King chiropractic support bed
  • Queen chiropractic support bed
  • Sumptuous linen and selection of pillows
  • Full kitchen facilities
  • Leather lounges
  • Full electric blockout blinds
  • Reverse Cycle heating and cooling
  • Luxurious sunken deck spa
  • 55″ Panasonic Full HD 3D LED TV in living area
  • 47” Panasonic TV in 2nd
  • Sony PS 3 is available on request
  • Bluray player with Surround Sound system
  • On deck BBQ with outdoor setting
  • Twin ensuite bathrooms with privacy screening
  • Under tile floor heating
  • Your stay includes a light continental breakfast

All of the accomodation is within the development of an environmentally sustainable site, with Australia’s very first privately owned sunfarm! It’s a full 30KW system that not only provides all the power needed to run the entire development, but provides a financial return when the power feeds back into the grid.

Following the sunfarm came the water catchment tank which now assists the supply water for the entire development as well.

Another great drawcard of the villas, is the fact that Pike River has opened their Riverland Wine Centre, right next door. The centre highlights 23 Riverland wines, and promotes local producers. They’re currently open from 11am-4pm, 7 days a week.

Another local drawcard is 23rd Street Distillery which is about 20 minutes away. It’s one of our favourites for dinner, gin, wine & spirit tastings!
