It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! With the jolliest day of the year fast approaching, the City of Adelaide is holding its annual Christmas Festival.
As part of the jolly festivities, Victoria Square will light up with a giant Christmas tree standing at 25 metres.
Seeing the giant tree is completely free, making it a fabulous place for your next night out with the kids. You can take a picnic or grab some food from the Adelaide Central Market or Gouger Street and admire the lights while sitting in Victoria Square. The tree features a light display that runs for around 15 minutes.
The giant Christmas tree will be lighting up from Friday 18 November 2022 from 6 pm to 9 pm at the Festive Weekends Lighting Launch.
Adelaide’s Christmas Festival will officially begin with the annual Christmas tree lighting, the first in a series of events as part of the City of Adelaide’s Festive Weekends.
You will be able to enjoy a wide range of festive performances from a pipe band, youth choir, DJ, and the dynamic Chloe Castledine and her band, The Cast, playing all your favourite Christmas songs.
The Giant Christmas Tree lights each night from 18 November 2022 until 4 January 2023, switching on at approximately 8:30 pm and running until 2:30 am.
If the weather so permits, you’re able to enjoy the pop-up water fountains in front of the Christmas Tree, so it’s a good idea to wear bathers or take a change of clothes and a towel if your kids can’t resist running through the water.
If you can’t wait until 8:30 pm to see the twinkling lights, it’s definitely worth going during the day to catch a glimpse at the symbol of Christmas cheer.
