By now, Illuminate Adelaide should be firmly scheduled in your diaries. The month-long festival will light up the city this July with a series of free and ticketed light, music and art experiences.
The biggest free event is City Lights – the flagship installation that will take over the CBD and this year, a new interactive experience is joining the Illuminate family.
Impulse will see 15 giant seesaws takeover Festival Plaza for two weeks and is the only installation of the whole festival that requires physical involvement to come to life.
When ridden, the giant seesaws burst into light and sound creating a magical show. The seesaws are fitted with motion-sensor LED lights and speakers and each of the 15 rides will create a different experience, so no two rides are the same.
The installation was first seen in Montreal, Canada in 2015 and has since taken the world by storm appearing in capitals across the globe including New York and Vancouver.
The seesaws range from 4 to 7 metres in length with musical sequences playing from the playground-inspired installation in time with the movement.
Now in its second year, Illuminate Adelaide will bring not just visual entertainment but also a huge line-up of musical acts such as Gorillaz, KLASSIK underground and electronic music event Unsound.
Illuminate will run from 1 – 31 July 2022 with the Impulse seesaws running from 15– 31 July.
