Giant Trash The Dress Photo Shoot

Kelly Hody has a big plan; to provide an opportunity for women to come together and have a bit of fun with their old wedding dresses in a massive “Trash the Dress” photo shoot. This will be the second year the event has run, and this year promises to be even bigger and better, with each bride given the choice to participate in a cake fight, a paint fight, or a drown the gown session.

With the idea planted in her head, Kelly needed a larger audience to support her plan and make it a reality. To do so, Kelly turned to online community website PlanBig.

PlanBig (www.planbig.com.au)is a new website where anyone with a plan or an idea can access the resources and support to make their plan happen in the real world. An initiative of Bendigo and Adelaide Bank, it is the contemporary iteration of the bank’s core approach, now drawing on the strengths of social networking to facilitate community outcomes.

“PlanBig has been a huge source of support for my plan,” Kelly said. “Connecting with like-minded people has been very helpful and motivating, and it has been a great way to raise awareness about the event.”

The Giant Trash the Dress photo shoot will take place at the Stamford Grand, Glenelg on Sunday 6th February 2011.

Speaking on the reasons for her plan, Kelly explained, “Trash the Dress” photo shoots are becoming increasingly popular with Australian brides. These shoots usually entail a bride who, instead of letting the gown gather dust, wears it one more time for a quirky shot in an unusual setting. Unlike traditional wedding photos, there is complete creative freedom and the contrast generally produces stunning photographic effects. Most importantly, it is also a lot of fun!

“We wanted to take the concept to a whole new level with an “en-masse” Trash the Dress photo shoot. Many of Adelaide’s best wedding suppliers are getting involved and this is the perfect opportunity for Australian women to get together and create some amazing photos”, Kelly said.

Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Managing Director, Mike Hirst, says budding entrepreneurs, dreamers, creative thinkers, community leaders and anyone with a bright idea should visit the site. “The site is a home for people with a shared interest or common goal. You can log in and plan your project with the help of other planners, or join up and support other people’s plans.”
