Live like a Barossa local with Gibson Wines new Day With The Dirtman experience

Day with The Dirtman see’s winemaker Rob Gibson turn into your personal tour guide, taking guests on an immersive journey of tastings through the Barossa.

The beloved Gibson Wines has launched two new cellar door experiences to commemorate its silver anniversary this November 3. Turning 25 is a big deal – and what better to celebrate the family-owned Barossa winery’s birthday than getting out and experiencing the best they have to offer.

The experiences, which are available from today, include a full day Barossa immersion – Day with The Dirtman – personally hosted by founder Rob Gibson.

Day with The Dirtman see’s Rob Gibson – winemaker, viticulturist and geologist – turn into your personal tour guide. Guests are guided through the Barossa on a ‘live like a local’ journey of produce and providore, with tasting experiences among vineyards and some of the region’s best vistas.

Indulge further in a long lunch at Gibson’s Light Pass Cellar Door as you tantalize your taste buds on flights of the rare and recently released ‘Special Bin’ bottlings, as well as barrel cellar access.

Gibson has also partnered with Kingsford The Barossa – one of Australia’s most exclusive luxury retreats – in the Day with The Dirtman. The recently reopened property on the Southern fringe of the Barossa will promote the experience to its guests, as part of its signature excursion recommendations.

And the silver anniversary greatness doesn’t stop there! Gibson Wines will also add a daily Barossa Shiraz by barrel tour from Monday to Friday, hosted personally by Gibson’s vintage winemaker, Adam Fiegert. The tour offers the opportunity to step into the world of small batch winemaking.

By accessing Gibson’s oak cellar with Adam, guests can taste Shiraz straight from the oak barrel its maturing in.

“This is our way of opening our arms to visitors, after what has been a tough couple of years for everyone”, says Rob Gibson.

“As we move into having more of our freedoms returned, particularly for cross border travel, this is the time for us to be offering new reasons to come and visit the Barossa.”

“We’re here, we have these gems to be discovered we want you to come have a bloody good time with us.”

The experiences are the first tour products that Gibson has offered at the Light Pass winery. They have been in part supported by the Unique Wine Experience Fund Grant Program – an initiative of the SA Government.

The Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development David Basham congratulated Gibson on the launch.

“This $200,000 funding program – which will unlock more than $500,000 worth of new projects across the state – was established to assist wineries impacted by COVID-19 restrictions and disruptions to international markets, by encouraging the development of unique cellar door experiences”, says Basham.

Gibson’s Day with The Dirtman experience is $450 per person, a minimum of 2 people and available on select days. The Barossa Shiraz by barrel tour is $50 per person, available from Monday to Friday at 10.30am. Bookings are essential and can be made here.
