Giddy up! A rosé wine rodeo is happening this month

Ricca Terra is bringing a playful twist to traditional wine shows with its first-ever Rosé Rodeo Wine Show.

If spring has you wanting to drink more rosé and get out into the sunshine, then you sound just like us. If you want to take getting out of the house and enjoying a drink to a whole new level, then we’ve found an event that you’re going to love.

This October, The Ricca Terra Wine Room is turning your usual wine event on its head with the ‘Renmark Rosé Rodeo Wine Show’.

“The Rosé Rodeo was born out of a desire to celebrate rosé in a fun, inclusive, and uniquely Riverland way. The Ricca Terra Wine Room is having a Rosé Week in celebration of the Riverland Rose and Garden Festival,” shared Shelley Kasotakis, the Production Coordinator & E-Commerce Manager at Ricca Terra.

“The Rosé Rodeo will be run after our ‘Stop & Smell the Rosé’ seminar, hosted by Katie Spain, featuring some of the industry’s leading voices in wine. Instead of limiting wine shows to winemakers and judges, we wanted to create something that anyone who loves rosé can be part of. Like a rodeo, it’s about stepping into the ring, taking a chance, and seeing if your favourite wine can take home a cash prize.”

The Rosé Rodeo is all about energy, laughter, and a little friendly competition. This won’t be your typical wine show. Instead, producers and the public can enter their favourite rosé, with $2,000 in prize money and a custom trophy buckle up for grabs, which will go to the producer. Guests will taste the rosés and crown the champion. “It’s part tasting, part entertainment, and 100 per cent fun,” said Shelley.

A competitor ticket is $55 and includes entry to the event, a pizza and a glass of wine. Alternatively, you can head down as a spectator for $25, giving you a chance to still get in on all the fun.

“If you’ve ever wanted to see, you can win big with your favourite rosé, this is your chance. You’ll be part of a crowd that helps celebrate one of Australia’s most loved wine styles — with plenty of fun, flavour, and local Riverland hospitality along the way.”

Ricca Terra began in 2003, when owners Ashley and Holly Ratcliff purchased their first vineyard in Barmera. They quickly began focusing on the likes of Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, then making way for varieties from the Mediterranean, finding this is what suited the warm and dry conditions of the Riverland. Throughout the last twenty years, they’ve been well awarded for their wines, and with events like this and the wider Riverland Rose & Garden Festival, it’s the perfect chance for you to not just try wines from Ricca Terra, but the best of what’s being produced in the region.

“It’s incredibly exciting to be part of a festival that shines such a light on the Riverland,” shared Shelley. “The Rose & Garden Festival brings together locals and visitors to celebrate everything that makes the region special — stunning gardens, welcoming people, and now, a new way to showcase our wines. It helps put the Riverland on the map as not only a place of natural beauty but also a hub of creativity, community, and celebration, and our chance to showcase the award-winning wines that the region produces – on the back of the Ricca Terra Colour of Calmness Rosé, taking home a trophy at the Rutherglen Wine Show.”

So if you’ve ever wanted to put your judging hat on, or simply have a favourite rosé you think isn’t getting enough praise, this is your chance to bring it into the spotlight.

The Rosé & Garden Festival runs from October 10th to 19th. Check out the Rosé Rodeo on October 15th.
