If you’re looking for a wild ride, Stockman Barossa Timed Event Rodeo is coming to the Barossa for an action-packed day.

The event is a timed event, removing the rough stock of the bucking horses and bulls and will take place on Saturday 17 December. Each of the many events on the day will be timed events for each competitor.

Stockman 1857 is the major sponsor for the event owning five local businesses surrounding the area. The event is the first of its kind in the Barossa since 1950 and the organisers are trying to build up the event to hopefully become a long-running tradition.

A few different types of events will be running on the day including, team roping, steer wrestling, breakaway roping, and barrel racing, so you’ll get to see all the best events rodeos have to offer!

Gates are set to open at 12pm with the main event kicking off at 2pm. Afterwards, the excitement will continue with local band The Barking Ants entertaining the crowd. The event is a family friendly day, with the event set to conclude at 9pm.

Tickets for the event are only $25 for over 18s and $10 for kids, with free entry for kids five and below, there are also deals for families (2 adults, 3 kids) for just $70.

The event will be held at Barossa Helicopters – a family business with a deep love for horses, and happily offered their arena to the event for enthusiasts to enjoy the sport.

“My personal pledge to the sport is to have a place where my friends and other fellow competitors can come to train as not everyone has the space for an arena,” says Chief Pilot of Barossa Helicopters, Bridgette Hasting.

“There are a couple other places locally that are similar in set up, but nothing set up for public events, so there is a lot of support from the competitors to create this event.”

The event will have a licensed bar and food stalls, the organisers encourage attendees to support the local small businesses and ensure prices will be affordable for all.
