Adelaide’s west is about to sizzle with the rich, smoky aroma of tender meats. The teams behind The Smoking Joint and Good Burger have joined forces to launch Smokin’ Good, a bold new American BBQ experience that’s just taken over the former Gilbert’s Wine Bar and Grill site in Torrensville.

The idea was first teased when Gilbert’s Wine Bar and Grill posted in late July that they’d be closing for the week with something pretty special on the horizon, and “a new concept that we believe will surprise and delight you all.”

Now we know the focus will turn to beautifully cooked meat, “BBQ, beer and banter,” and the cosy sage-toned, art-filled space will welcome a new era.

The collaboration combines The Smoking Joint’s award-winning pitmaster (BBQ specialist) credentials with Good Burger and Good Gilbert’s cult-status comfort food. The result? A menu of slow-smoked meats, rich sauces, and indulgent sides, designed to deliver the full Southern barbecue treatment. Think brisket, BBQ pork, hot links, smoked chicken wings and more, available to eat in or take home.

Smokin’ Good is keeping things exclusive with just three sittings a week: Friday and Saturday nights, plus Sunday lunch. The limited schedule is designed to ensure every plate of barbecue arrives fresh from the smoker, at its tender, flavour-packed peak. Bookings are highly recommended, as it’s likely to sell out pretty quickly.

For those keen to enjoy the feast at home, Smokin’ Good offers build-your-own takeaway boxes. You get to customise your box as you please, with various options on meats and sides. Just order online, select a pick-up time, and have your custom box ready to collect.

The Torrensville venue, which opened its doors as Gilbert’s Wine and Grill late last year, has been reimagined for this new chapter, while still boasting the stylish fit-out that made it a standout in the first place. The space remains primed for casual dining, with a relaxed but lively atmosphere suited to barbecue devotees and people who are just looking for a delicious feed.
