On Sunday 2nd December, Gilles Street Market will extend onto Gilles St for Adelaide’s ultimate market extravaganza, The Gilles Street Grand Bazaar.
In conjunction with the Adelaide City Councils, Splash Adelaide Program, a section of Gilles Street will be closed to accommodate an additional 50 stalls – a first ever for Gilles Street Market.
The bazaar will play host to over 130 fashion and designer art & craft stalls, delicious catering and live entertainment. Resident DJs will continue to spin the tunes in addition to live acoustic sessions presented by Adelaide’s local live music scene, The Jam Room.
Event Manager, Jennifer Centenera comments, "we are super excited to launch our first ever Gilles Street Grand Bazaar, and are fortunate to have the local support of the Adelaide City Council and Gilles Street Primary school. The Grand Bazaar will reinforce Gilles Street Markets definitive presence as a popular destination in Adelaide’s event calendar. If Grand Bazaar is successful, we would hope to increase the frequency at peak times throughout the year”.
Stallholders will include the ever popular favourites:
Red House Vintage
The Corner Stall
Days of August
Luna & Luxe Candles
Decibel Tees
And newcomers:
Blooms Florist
Adelaide's Pop Up Vintage Book Store
Workshop
Plus emerging Adelaide designers;
Ella Hope & Andruis Tomas
As a first, Gilles Street will team up with local music scene aficionado, Alice Fraser from The Jam Room to deliver the quintessential Gilles Street Sessions from 11am to 4pm.
Live acoustic acts will include:
The Tiger and Me (Melb) – http://www.facebook.com/thetigerandme
Nick Saxon (Syd) – http://www.facebook.com/pages/Nick-Saxon/106689979360563
Dr. Piffle and The Burlap Band – http://www.facebook.com/Drpiffleandtheburlapband
The Jam Room presents remarkable performances in creative spaces, actively building the synergy between the things people love; food, art, wine and music. Owned by Alice Fraser, she was recently awarded the Most Outstanding Individual Award at the 2012 Fowler's Live Music Awards for her contribution to the local music scene. In a role which sees her bring original music to unique suburban spaces such as book stores, gardens, surf clubs and cafes, excitingly, this is The Jam Room's first partnership with a local market. http://www.facebook.com/thejamroomsa
