Gillian Cosgriff graduated with her degree in performing arts to find that qualifications are worth nothing, with those people that she auditioned for constantly asking what previous experience she had had. This is a difficulty faced by all aspiring actors. Employers want experienced actors, but you cannot get experience without getting work. Cosgriff has work experience of the kind that many actors have, as child carers, cleaners and, in this case as a waitress. She contends that she is not really a waitress, she is an actress playing the part of a waitress.

From this basis she has put together a show with many of her own songs, accompanying herself on piano and with the assistance of a bassist. Generating ones own work is a common occurrence for actors nowadays, and she has found a way that works brilliantly for her.

To say that she is an accomplished pianist would be a big understatement and her singing is of the same very high standard. She has found her niche. Add to this a n amiable and welcoming way of talking to an audience that immediately makes one feel as if she is an old friend, some very funny lines and then her extremely clever lyrics, this is an act not to be missed.

She combines more than a touch of genius, a cheeky sense of humour and a very personable style to produce a performance that will leave you smiling for hours after. This young performers is a real find and is sure to go far. Try to catch her second show.
