Ginger’s Coffee Studio launches vintage bar nights

Shuck oysters, drink great wine and soak up the late summer sun curbside at Ginger’s Coffee Studio new vintage bar and lounge nights.

Café by day and a cocktail bar by night – the beloved Ginger’s Coffee Studio is taking itself back to its roots, launching Friday and Saturday lounge nights with a vintage twist.

Kicking off January 28, Ginger’s Coffee Studio will open its doors to nighttime crowds, shaking and stirring classic cocktails, pouring fine SA wine and bringing modern Australian food to the Goodwood Road locale.

Soak up the summer sun as your shuck oysters and drink wine curbside of the arty suburb.

“Ginger’s was a vintage lounge eight years ago, so we are looking to take it back to its heritage,” says owner Arthur.

“We’re dipping our toe in the water…there’s nothing along here like this.

“We’re looking to bring modern Australian seafood and cuisine to the Road, alongside some nice wine and cocktails.”

Treat yourself to a weekend indulgence of pan-fried drunken mussels, Kilpatrick oysters and stir-fried lemon garlic squid. If seafood doesn’t take your fancy, the talented chefs at Ginger’s are also slinging classic bruschetta and sticky pork ribs.

Sit on vintage couches, gather around retro tables and kiss the working week goodbye as you sip away on classic cocktails like Cosmopolitans and Margaritas. Ginger’s is also keeping it local, hosting gin flights by starring Southern Shine Distillery and shaking Espresso Martinis with a shot of SA Patio Coffee.

Keeping community at the forefront, the Ginger’s team decided to launch the nights after they noticed a gap in the market for seafood specials and classic Australian food away from a pub setting.

“Over the last 12 months, we’ve heard people want to get some oysters, nice platters and stuff like that,” says Arthur.

“[We’ve] always been open to change…so we’re keeping it retro and getting a feel for what the community want.”

While COVID has spelled turbulent times for the hospitality industry, Ginger’s hopes that its evening sessions and late-night offerings keep attracting straying city dwellers to the suburbs.

The beloved Goodwood Road precinct is becoming the place to be for a sunny evening session, with Good Gilbert wine bar, an array of Thai restaurants and Cru Tapas elevating the nighttime offerings.

Now, Ginger’s is bringing classic Australia and seafood into the mix, with a subtle vintage twist.

Ginger’s Bar and Lounge nights kick off this weekend, January 28 and 29, from 4pm with $8 glasses of SA wine, $12 cocktails and $6 beers.
