Goodwood institution Gingers is adding another string to its bow, launching a fresh in-house bagel offering as part of its ever-evolving hospitality lineup.

The long-running venue, known locally as both a beloved daytime coffee spot and evening vintage lounge bar with live music, will launch its new bagel offering in-store this week.

Owner Arthur Poligerinos says the idea came from both customers and Gingers’ long-standing approach to always trying new things and adapting with the times.

“We’ve been here a long time and we’re always open to giving something new a go,” he says. “No one in our area is really doing bagels, and there’s been a bit of a call for it, so we thought, why not?”

The bagels will be made entirely in-house from the Gingers kitchen, using the venue’s existing ovens and a focus on fresh daily preparation. Everything will be produced on site, alongside the café’s established all-day breakfast and lunch offering.

“We make everything here,” Arthur says. “All the ingredients are done in-house, and it fits in with what we already do.”

The bagel lineup spans classic comfort, savoury favourites and a few playful sweet options. Expect combinations like eggs, avocado and herbs, smoked salmon with cream cheese and dill, and a classic BLT with bacon, provolone and tomato chutney, alongside heartier picks such as paprika grilled chicken and jalapeño-spiked Mexican-inspired fillings. Sweeter bagels lean into nostalgic flavours like peanut butter and jelly or Nutella with berries and cream cheese.

Rather than launching a separate brand, the bagels will sit under the Gingers name as a natural extension of the venue’s offering. Retro-inspired in-house branding and signage will align with the café and bar’s existing aesthetic.

Gingers has operated in Goodwood for 18 years, with Arthur and his team at the helm for the past eight. Over that time, the venue has introduced everything from live music programming to new food concepts, adapting to changing tastes and trends in the local dining scene.

“In hospitality you’ve got to keep trying things,” Arthur says. “Places open and close all the time, so you just keep evolving and seeing what works.”

The new bagel range launches in-store from Friday 6 February, with online ordering and delivery set to follow soon after.
