Bike SA is pushing to get more women pedalling with their annual Gear Up Girl SA event which will be held in Elder Park in Adelaide on Sunday 23 November 2014. The event is South Australia’s largest and only community bike ride for women.

“Gear Up Girl SA aims to give those female riders who may feel hesitant about getting on their bike an opportunity to have a go in a supported environment, surrounded by others who probably feel the same way,” Bike SA CEO Christian Haag says.

The event offers three ride options of varying lengths, from 15km to 50km, giving inexperienced riders an opportunity to try out their skills in a fun, safe and supported environment and experienced riders a chance to help get more female bums on bikes.

The event begins with a yoga warm-up at 8:20am, followed by the commencement of each ride option from 9:00am, including rest and refreshment stops along the way.

The ride is expected to attract between 600-700 riders.
