Give a big wave to Hello Stranger – they newest café to pop up on Gilbert Street.

Hello Stranger opened its doors last month revamping the space that was once home to L.Law Bistro. Now taken over by Haeah Lee, the café has an all-new décor, menu and feel.

Haeah has been a local to the area and after eyeing off the space for a number of years, she decided to take it on herself.

“I thought I could do something a little bit better with the place,” she said.

“I’ve been working in hospitality in Adelaide for the last 15 years.

“Being Korean and working in Japanese restaurants, the food that we are offering here has an Asian fusion.”

The menu has lots of breakfast and lunch options that have grown in popularity for locals and business people. Ingredients are sourced locally while pastries are ordered in fresh every day from Prove Pastry and Cheffery’s Kitchen.

The all-day breakfast menu includes brunch classics as well as unique dishes such as the Teriyaki Dog which is a hot dog sausage in a cheesy egg omelette and soft milk bun roll.

Haeah said a popular lunch item is the Bulgogi Burger with a beef patty and a side of fries. Other star dishes include the spicy corn ribs and panko-crumbed Takoyaki which is panko bread crumbed octopus balls with sweet chilli mayo.

There’s options for everyone with vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and dairy free menu items, while coffee is sourced locally with Altura Coffee.

“I like the concept of supporting small businesses and local,” Haeah said.

“We have lots of regulars already, particularly as we are one of the earliest to open one in the area at 7am so we get a lot of early birds.”

The cafe has an all new interior with blue and white colour theme bringing brightness and colour into the space.

“We completely changed the décor and we expanded the bar space,” Haeah said.

“We want to create a space for people to have little business meetings and spending time enjoying the inside and outside area during the week; meanwhile, on the weekend, it’s more leisure destination where people travel here just to check out the space.”

Don’t be a stranger to Hello Stranger café – check out the new venue and give them a big wave.

Hello Stranger is located at 31 Gilbert Street Adelaide.

The café is open from 7am-3pm every day.
