The newest big cat to hit Adelaide Zoo is ready to show off her stripes today!

After travelling from the National Zoo and Aquarium in Canberra, 11-year-old Sumatran Tiger Rhani was welcomed to the Adelaide Zoo family a few months ago and has been getting used to her new home, preparing for her big debut. Rhani is now ready to meet all the big cat fans out there!

Adelaide Zoo Carnivore Keeper Matt Daly says Rhani started off a little shy, but she’s becoming more adventurous every day. “We’ve put in a lot of effort to try help her feel comfortable, it’s been a long journey for her but she’s adjusted well considering,” Matt says.

Rhani is also expecting the arrival of male Sumatran Tiger Kembali planned for later this year as well! Adelaide Zoo is hoping together they’ll contribute towards a vital international breeding program that will ensure this critically-endangered species remains for generations to come.

Why not take the kids for a day out that you’ll both enjoy and give Rhani a super warm welcome!

Follow the Adelaide Zoo on Facebook to ooh and aww at all the animal friends living their best lives at the zoo and to keep up to date with Rhani until you can swing by for a visit.
