Give An Animal Some Summer Lovin’ With Summer Twilight Adoptions

Owning a pet is a life time decision and making that right decision takes time, so the AWL is giving people the opportunity to find their newest furry family member at Summer Twilight Adoptions.

AWL SA Animal Care Manager, Leanne Page says the AWL Twilight Adoptions will give people the opportunity to find a new pet during this holiday season. “ Following from the success of our Twilight Adoptions in December, our Summer Twilight Adoptions will be held each Thursday night throughout January and February between 4pm-7pm, giving people the opportunity to give a shelter animal a new home for life’

The AWL is South Australia’s largest animal shelter caring for in excess of 20,000 lost and abandoned animals each year

One in every five animals that make their way into the AWL shelter at Wingfield has been surrendered by their owners and the reasons vary, from being unable to afford to keep the pet to a change in living arrangements and lifestyle. Ms Page says every single consideration needs to be taken into account when adding a pet to the family.

‘Do you have the time and energy to exercise your pet? Can you afford the food and veterinary costs? Is your backyard big enough? These are just some of the questions you need to ask yourself and make an informed decision’

During Summer Twilight Adoptions AWL Wingfield staff will be on hand to help new pet owners with advice on a pet that will best suit their lifestyle.

‘This will be a perfect opportunity to take advantage of the warmer nights and will cater for the singles, couples and families who cannot visit the AWL during normal adoption hours.

All animals available for adoption from the AWL are desexed, micro-chipped, vaccinated, health checked and behavioural tested.

The animals don’t choose to be here but you can choose to make their lives better by giving them a lifetime home.
