It’s almost Easter, and while that means chocolate eggs and celebrations, it also means looking after one another and connecting as a community.
One particular initiative has caught our eye this April, and that’s the 2025 Easter Dinner for Adelaide’s homeless community held at the Pilgrim Uniting Church on Flinders Street in the CBD on Easter Sunday, 20 April.
The dinner will be distributed between 4:30 and 5:30pm to ensure everyone in need gets a meal. The one-hour window is designed so that all guests can arrive at the same time and no one misses out.
Organised by Australia Angels and Stef Kristophe, and made possible through community donations, the dinner will once again provide meals to Adelaide’s homeless community this Easter Sunday. The event relies entirely on the generosity of South Australians who are able to contribute—and that’s where you come in.
The organisation is taking donations from fresh foods to shelf-stable foods, to items like deodorant, toothpaste, and toiletry bags. Anything you can contribute is greatly appreciated and will go to a fantastic cause.
Organiser Stef Kristophe said, “We’re just really really grateful that we’re still able to run this after such a long amount of time.” Stef tells us that it’s an incredibly proud moment.
“It’s been 18 years, and sometimes it’s not easy to get the donations but the fact that we can still go, and still provide and give back—I think there’s something to be said about that,” Stef said.
“The biggest impact and most gratifying thing of it all is when you see patrons come back as volunteers, because it’s inspired them to better their circumstances. Because someone considered them during one of their most vulnerable times, it inspired them to give back as well,” Stef continued.
The event’s volunteers and donors are at the heart of the initiative, and as Stef puts it, these “amazing, immense, beautiful people who help by donating food,” are the people who make this possible.
Donations are key to making this day a success. If you’re able to help, here’s how you can contribute:
You can drop donations at the following drop-off points:
- Regency Apartments – 188 Morphett Street, Adelaide
- Iannace Refrigerated Transport – 53 Woodforde Rd, Magill (prefered for dropping items that need refrigeration)
- Panorma (enquire for address)
- Craigmore (enquire for address)
Message Australia Angels on Facebook to enquire about drop-offs. Any remaining donations following the dinner will be distributed to St Vincent Shelter, Towards Independence at The Salvation Army, and Catherine House Inc. Donations are open until Thursday, 17 April.
This Easter, let’s come together to support Adelaide’s homeless community. Your donation, no matter how small, can make a real difference and help ensure everyone has a warm meal and a sense of belonging this holiday.
