The iconic Hotel Royal, a staple of the western suburbs and a go-to destination for lovers of quality pub food and bevvies, has just completed the last stage of its major renovation—a new table service restaurant and function space—completely reimagining and transforming both the venue and menus, promising an enhanced experience for all its guests.

A beloved venue that’s long been known as a hub for good pub grub and cold beers, the Hotel Royal (formerly Condesa) has raised the bar in style and sophistication with its recent makeover. With a newly designed bar, sports bar, restaurant and an inviting courtyard equipped with a retractable roof, it offers the perfect setting for all seasons.

Whether it’s soaking up the sun in summer or staying cozy in winter, this courtyard is set to become a favourite spot for locals and visitors alike with a menu of modern-Australian cuisine featuring pub favourites and classics like pizzas, schnitis, burgers and desserts, along with new mouth-watering options like pork belly doughnut sliders, burrata cheese with smoked honey and balsamic blueberries, grilled salmon and gnocchi.

The recently renovated restaurant features an exquisite interior for elevated dining, with newly designed booth spaces ideal for intimate gatherings or a relaxed date night, with the restaurant menu offering a range of main plates and dishes designed to be shared that include a 12-hour slow-cooked lamb shoulder, beef rib eye and barramundi and king prawns.

A completely revamped, stunning tiled bar boasts an extensive selection of local wines from renowned wineries like Paxton and Seppeltsfield, a variety of beers, and a premium range of spirits, and the cocktail menu features both classic and innovative drinks, including cocktail faves Espresso martinis and Jalapeno Margaritas.

One of the other main areas to have undergone renovations is the hotel’s function space upstairs, now called the Torrensville Loft, complete with a wrap-around balcony, private bathroom facilities and large feature windows to let in all the light.

‘We’ve done significant renovations to our function space upstairs’, says Hotel Manager Scott Oakley. ‘We’ve knocked out a few walls, which has increased the capacity considerably, going from a maximum of around 50 people to now being able to accommodate approximately 140 people standing and 70-80 people seated.’

According to Scott, creating a brighter and lighter space was a central focus and part of the inspiration behind the hotel’s recent makeover.

‘Before the renovations, the venue’s windows faced Henley Beach Road, which meant there wasn’t a lot of natural light coming through, and the space felt quite dark’, says Scott. ‘We’ve literally shifted the focus, with everything now facing the carpark on the northern side—so now we get that beautiful afternoon sunlight which not only hits the new courtyard but filters through the entire space too.’

Furthermore, the Hotel Royal Cellars have also undergone a renovation. Whether you’re a wine connoisseur or want to try something new, the extensive collection of premium local and imported wines, craft beers, and spirits will surely impress.

So, whether it’s for a casual drink, a meal with friends, or your next special event, the newly renovated Hotel Royal in Torrensville is a must-visit destination this Summer, combining the comfort of a traditional pub with modern sophistication and style.
