Prepare to be transported to Japan in the the ’60s, as LUMEN Bar returns to light up the city landscape. Featuring a Japanese inspired menu, exquisite wines, and a stellar line-up of vinyl DJs, this cosy Winter destination is a must, as Adelaide City Lights returns to illuminate the city this July.
LUMEN bar opens this Friday, and will operate for the next four weeks while Illuminate Adelaide transforms our city after dark. The pop-up bar will appear for the second year in a row, on the Goodman Lawns in front of the historic Elder Hall, on the University of Adelaide’s North Terrace campus.
Shohei Fujimoto, a Japanese artist, has used thousands of lasers to create a display of fluid, changing structures, which will deliver both a highly technical, and breathtakingly magical experience you don’t want to miss!
Open to the general public, you’ll be able to treat yourself to a range of delicious wines, starting at $10 a glass. For those a bit peckish, LUMEN bar has a full menu of gourmet platters, cheese, chips, bread, and more.
From 4:30pm till 10:30pm, the bar will host some of Adelaide’s most passionate DJs, performers, producers, beatmakers, radio hosts, record store owners, and community builders, sharing their love for vinyl music.
If you’re inspired by the music, and want to shop some vinyl, Thursdays to Sundays from 5pm to 9pm is for you. You’ll be able to flick through the music selectors’ curated collections. Expect the full spectrum of genres – jazz, funk, soul, disco, rock, reggae – and you can take home your vinyl discoveries with you.
For those who enjoy wine tastings, LUMEN will host free tastings every Tuesday and Wednesday from 4:30pm to 6pm, allowing you to explore a range of wines from Chardonnays to Rosés and more.
Students who bring their ID will be able to enjoy 15% off all beverages between 4pm and 6pm every night, excluding nights the venue is closed for a private event.
