Glam’s Guide To The Easter Long Weekend 2016

You will go hopping mad when you see what is on…

Easter. It can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people. To some it is a very special time, to be reflective and spend time with family, to others it is an extra long weekend, filled with as many activities as possible. And then there are those who just love it for the chocolate. And the hot cross buns. Always hot cross buns…

Whatever Easter means to you, there is seriously SO much happening around Adelaide, so hold on to your bunny ears as we bring you our Guide to the Easter Long Weekend:

OAKBANK EASTER RACING CARNIVAL – Saturday 26 March and Monday 28 March

Where else would we start? When we say Easter Long Weekend one of the first things that comes to everyone’s mind is Oakbank! It is one of the biggest events on the yearly calendar and for good reason!

The hardest decision is choosing which day to attend, Saturday or Monday? Take your picnic rug, some delicious food and of course, all of the wine, as you set up for a day of racing and feasting fun! FYI there will be some wineries set up there for the day including one of our faves Sidewood Estate. How can you go wrong?

Oakbank Young Members Marquee – Saturday 26 March

The Lion Hotel – Start your day at The Lion with a $10 Brekky Burger with a complimentary Corona, Bird in Hand Sparkling or pint of Hills Cider (don’t mind if we do). With bus transfers to and from The Lion to the Race Course, 6 drink tokens, cocktail style food, live entertainment throughout the day, and all in the comfort of a marquee… What isn’t to love?

Plus when you return to The Lion, keep the party going with live entertainment from the Macaroons plus DJS Quinny and Parko plus $10 Espresso Martinis and $15 Cocktail Jugs before 9pm. You had us at Espresso Martinis…

The Highway – With brunch served on arrival, 6 beverage vouchers per person, return bus transport to and from The HWY to the Race Course, plus one epic day of fun, this is another great option for to kick of your day at the Young Members Marquee.

March 17-24- Adelaide Central Market Easter Egg Hunt Because at Easter we egg hunt! And if you find the five giant golden eggs hidden around the Market you could win $500 in Market vouchers. It’s as easy as grabbing an entry form and circling the stalls where you found the golden eggs on the map, pop that in the entry box and voila! You could be a winner.

March 24- Lindes Lane Pre Easter Party They may be closing over the Easter long weekend, but that doesn’t mean they can’t go out with a cheeky bang. With some food and drink specials, this hidden gem is well worth a visit (see why in our story here).

March 24- 2KW Easter Long Weekend Kick off the Easter long weekend in style at one of Adelaide’s sexiest rooftop bars… It will be good vibes only as Will Trott plays from 5:30pm and Madra Mor gets cranking from 9pm. FYI they also have some crackers lined up for Saturday (Manhattan Men 7pm) and Sunday (So Cal 3pm, Dj Bos 4pm and Dj Curd 9).

March 25- Good Friday Feasting at The Arkaba Friday will be very good with the Arkaba open all day on Good Friday. That’s ALL day. We are talking from 7am until 10pm. So while most other places are closed you know where you can head!

March 25- The Atrium Lounge Good Friday Feast For that perfect Good Friday feast the Atrium Lounge at the InterContinental has you sorted. Get you mouth around a delicious serve of fish and chips with a garden salad, lemon wedges and tartare sauce for just $28.

March 25 and 26- TG’s Seafood Easter Feast Well hello seafood buffet… Get your hands on sone of the best local SA produce on Good Friday and Easter Saturday from 6pm until 10pm. Bookings are essential and can be made by calling (08) 8461 0849 or emailing [email protected].

March 25-26 Brick-a-Laide LEGO® fans this is where you will want to be spending your Easter long weekend! Attracting 25,000 people in its first year, it will feature an epic showcase of brick creations and displays from local and interstate modellers and creators. So if you are a die-hard LEGO® lover, then you had better get yourself to the Adelaide Convention Centre for this bad boy.

March 25-28 Easter Chocolate High Tea at Stamford Grand Adelaide When a high tea enters next level status… Enjoy a Honey Bunny tea infused cocktail (or mocktail) on arrival, before you dig into some delicious Easter inspired treats. From savouries to the sweet chocolate desserts, it will all be delicious.

March 26- Easter Breakfast at InterContinental Easter Sunday looks especially delicious at the InterContinental’s Riverside Restaurant. With a full brunch buffet including a variety of yoghurts, fruit, cereal, as well as hot and cold meals, there is a little something for everyone. Our hot tip: try their in-house pastries. Holy yum! There will also be a friendly visitor hopping around to bring you some Easter treats! This event is now SOLD OUT, so FYI get in early next year!

March 26- Clare Easter Races Saddle up for a new kind of fun at this year’s Clare Easter Races! They have introduced a little something new to keep the party going after the racing is done… Check it out in our story here.

March 26 and 27- Easter Weekend at The Unley They may be closed on Good Friday but they will be making up for it… With Happy Hour between 2pm and 6pm on both Saturday and Sunday, dessert specials and $7.50 pints, plus $25 Share Platters on the Sunday, we think their rooftop is a must over the long weekend!

March 27- La Boca’s Argentinean Easter Sunday Brunch  Because Easter Sunday was made for brunching… Get your hands on a bevy of traditional seafood dishes, salads, picadas, soups, a full dessert buffet and your choice of a main meal. Book (08) 8461 0860 or [email protected].

March 27- The HWY Easter Sunday Garden Party You are invited to a garden party in their garden! The HWY will transform into a Mad Hatter style tea party, with amazing cocktails on offer and yummy Easter surprises for the kids. And us? We sure hope so!

March 27- Do You Remember House at the Ark It is back due to popular demand… Get amongst some old school classics as Groove Terminator hits the decks along with Scott T on the mic. March 27- Kangaroo Island Farmers Market If you are escaping Adelaide for the amazing sights, sounds, smells and tastes of Kangaroo Island, then first things first, check out our guide here. But you will also want to check out the Farmers Market from 9am to 1pm at Penneshaw Oval. With a visit from the Easter Bunny, plenty of tastings and a spectacular beachside location, it is the perfect way to kick off your Easter Sunday!

Sebastyan’s Bar – When Easter and cocktails combine you get a Vanilla Martini or a Toblerone Martini – yum! This little bar knows where its at and you can grab yourself an Easter Cocktail for just $14. They are open from 4pm to late so hop to it.

Mt Lofty Ranges Vineyard – Looking for somewhere to eat on Good Friday? Lots of places are closed but Mt Lofty Ranges Vineyard will be open and serving up their beyond gorgeous lunch menu in one of the most beautiful settings that we can think of. Gemtree Wines – With a spectacular cellar door set amongst the vines in the beautiful McLaren Vale, this little number is well worth a visit. FYI their platters are all kinds of amazing. They are open every day across the long weekend except for Good Friday.
