Celebrate the start of Summer this December and kick back at one of South Australia’s much-loved venues, Glen Ewin Estate, which is hosting its annual Summer High Tea event on Sunday, December 3rd.

From 2-5pm, the historic Pulpshed Lawns of the estate will be the location of this exquisite afternoon, where guests are invited to enjoy alfresco dining of mouth-watering delights whilst they soak up the warmth of the Aussie sun among the blooming gardens, surrounded by over 180 years of South Australian history.

Upon arrival, guests will be treated to a refreshing glass of the estate’s Fig Royal—a handcrafted Adelaide Hills aperitif that’s full of flavour and will prepare the palate for a day of delicacies.

The curated menu features finger sandwiches with ham and Dijon mustard and refreshing cucumber with hummus, along with chicken and herb sausage rolls coupled with tomato sauce to cap off the savoury offerings. And, no high tea would be complete without a stash of freshly baked scones—served up with Willabrand fig jam and vanilla cream, offering a nod to the estate’s renowned legacy in jam-making.

Rounding out the menu is a variety of treats featuring the sweetness of a lemon meringue tartlet, dark chocolate mud cake, and dainty macarons accompanied by filtered tea and coffee.

Adding to the chilled vibes and setting the tone for the day will be a live acoustic musician Cherie de Klerk. And, whilst one of the perks of the event is the breathtaking outdoor location in the estate’s gardens, if the weather proves to be unpredictable, the High Tea will gracefully relocate indoors into the magnificent Pulpshed.

There are two ticket offerings to choose from for Glen Ewin’s High Tea event—the High Tea at $65 per person and the Premium High Tea at $79, which includes unlimited Gatehouse Sparkling Brut between 2.30 pm and 4.30 pm. The menu also caters to dietary requirements, but guests are encouraged to specify their needs upon booking.

For those who have never been to the venue, Glen Ewin Estate is steeped in history, with Horticulturist George McEwin beginning his passion project, planting fruit trees and vines, back in 1843. Although it ceased winemaking in the 1890s, the estate evolved, pivoting to what it became famous for—Glen Ewin Jams.

Today, beyond its legacy as a jam producer, Glen Ewin Estate is a self-sufficient property that doesn’t just offer gin and their signature Griffin Ale but also has Biscofigs—a crunchy biscotti packed with figs – and Glace Figs, which are picked on site and featured in their jam. Its parklands, enchanting weddings, stellar restaurant, and extensive tasting room make Glen Ewin Estate a coveted destination for South Australians and tourists alike.

Glen Ewin’s High Tea event offers more than just an afternoon of laid-back vibes and delicious food. The estate provides the perfect setting to welcome in the Summer season with friends, so grab your tickets today and prepare to enjoy an afternoon of delights within the luscious natural surroundings of this proudly historic venue.
