As the sun shines brighter and the days get longer in South Australia, there’s no better way to enjoy the summer than with a scoop of your favourite ice cream—whether as a post-beach day treat or sweety treaty after dinner!
To celebrate this season’s most popular dessert, The Glenelg Ice Cream Festival is back, promising an even bigger, sweeter, and more delicious experience than ever before.
Happening on Friday, January 12th, from 4:00 pm until 10 pm, this free, family-friendly event will transform Jetty Road into an Ice Cream Village featuring three of the state’s top ice creameries as voted by the South Australian public—creating a heavenly paradise for ice cream lovers.

The three award-winning ice creameries include Golden North—the first-place winner known for its signature honey flavour and palm oil-free products—Bottega Gelateria, who are committed to
providing the most authentic Italian gelato with local fruits, nuts and juice, and Ovo Gelato, offering a delightful mix of artisanal gelato in a range of classic and unique flavours.
City of Holdfast Bay Mayor Amanda Wilson is excited to return the festival for another year and welcomes guests to the Bay for a beautiful summer’s night out.

‘Ice cream at the beach during summer is an Australian institution, and we have created an all-inclusive festival to celebrate this connection while showcasing the very best that Glenelg has to offer’, says Wilson.
‘Since the inaugural event in 2021, Glenelg’s Ice Cream Festival has grown in popularity, becoming South Australia’s biggest festival dedicated to the summer treat. We saw crowds of up to 25,000 people at the last event, and we’re expecting up to 30,000 in January’, said Wilson.
Besides SA’s favourite trio of ice creameries, there’ll also be an expanded range of ice cream vendors serving up smooth delights, including local favourites like Barossa Valley Ice Cream Company, Freeze and Roll, Sassi, Shibui Dessert Bar, Gelato Bello, and many more.

And it’s not just about ice cream! The one-day festival also offers kids’ entertainment, including craft activities, a silent disco, face painting, hair braiding and a Scavenger Hunt competition to win a $100 Jetty Road gift voucher.
Channel 7’s Gertie Spurling will host fashion parades, adding a dash of style to the sweetness, showcasing the latest collections from local Jetty Road boutiques such as Attitudes Boutique, Denim and Cloth, Blazae Fashion Emporium, Ghanda and more.
Furthermore, several of Jetty Road’s popular restaurants and bars will be setting up on-street dining, accompanied by live music to create the perfect summer night vibes by the beach.
For those who want to escape the street party atmosphere for a moment to enjoy their ice cream without the hustle and bustle, a new sensory zone based on Cowper Street near Event Cinemas will offer a quiet space for guests to relax.
‘Lock 12th January in your calendar and grab your family and friends to indulge in a delicious ice
cream or two, and enjoy the buzzing atmosphere of Jetty Road with good food and drinks, live
music, and the surroundings of one of South Australia’s best coastal destinations’, said Wilson.
