Founded by foodies back in 2017, Sea Lounge at Holdfast Shores’ Marina Pier, is carrying forward Zucca Mezze’s strong reputation for high quality plates of food, served right next to the water.
Evolving from its run as a popular Greek restaurant, a desire to offer authentic Indian cuisine that isn’t a curry, in a way that’s fresh and works with the seaside location, has given birth to Sea Lounge.
“We want to present Indian food in a way that Australians can enjoy, by the sea, while staying true to the herbs and spices of India,” says owner Farroukh, who was also in charge at Zucca Mezze.
“Zucca was successful, but I understand this food. It’s where I am from, so for me it was a natural progression to one-day want to offer it here. So far, the Adelaide people have been very supportive.”
Offering an extensive menu that does, in fact, include curries — as well as their twist on a gluten-free Shepherds Pie — the appetizers and chargrilled menu options stand out.
The Sarson Ke Phool, which are broccoli and cauliflower florets with a mustard pickle, and the Bharwaan Aloo & Shimla Mirch, which is a potato stuffed with chargrilled bell pepper and cottage cheese, are hard to go past.
