The National Wine Centre (NWC) has joined forces with South Australian business, Segway Sensation SA, to give visitors an unforgettable tour experience.

The NWC is the first venue in metropolitan Adelaide to introduce fun and interactive Segway tours, which start at the Centre’s picturesque vineyard and travel around the iconic building on the corner of Botanic and Hackney roads.

NWC Tourism Coordinator Sine Ryan said the tours were a novel way for tourists and locals alike to explore the Centre and learn about Australian wine.

“The Segways are an incredibly fun and safe way to see the sights of the Centre. It’s a unique experience for visitors to Adelaide and also a great team building exercise for corporate groups looking to do something a bit outside the box,” Ms Ryan said.

“The smart Segway design automatically senses and responds to the body’s forward or backward movements, making it simple to learn and operate for people of all ages.”

Segway Sensation SA owners, Cindy Chynoweth and Shane Camilleri, said bringing Segways to the NWC was a fantastic opportunity.

“We are thrilled at the prospect of bringing Segway’s to the city. The NWC is a unique and iconic building in Adelaide, it seems perfect for discovery by Segway,” Ms Chynoweth said.

The tour takes visitors through the Centre’s interactive and educational Wine Discovery Journey – an exhibition where visitors learn the role wine has played in history, recognise the position of Australian wine in today’s international market and appreciate the relationship between food and wine.

Gliding into the Centre’s relaxed Wined Bar, the tour ends by giving visitors a chance to sample wines from largest wine tasting experience in Australia.

Tour participants receive a pre‐loaded card to the value of $15, which enables them to taste a selection of the 120 wines on offer from state‐of‐the‐art Enomatic dispensing machines. A

charcuterie platter is also provided to share.

The Segway tours are offered as group bookings only with a minimum of five guests and a maximum of 10 guests allowed per group. On site training is conducted before departure.

The Segway tours cost $150 per person. To book, call 8313 0095.
