Over a century has passed since the Titanic’s tragic voyage, yet its captivating tale remains timeless. Melbourne Museum is set to immerse visitors in this poignant chapter of history with the unveiling of TITANIC: The Artefact Exhibition, fresh from its triumphant run in Paris.
From 16 December 2023 to 14 April 2024, the museum will transport attendees to the heart of 1912, allowing them to walk the corridors of the Titanic and relive its fateful journey. This exclusive exhibition boasts over 200 genuine artefacts retrieved from the ship’s resting place, offering a tangible link to the past.
The Titanic’s saga, marked by heroism, sacrifice, and heartbreak, has left an indelible mark on popular culture, spawning numerous adaptations across various mediums. This exhibition promises a deep dive into the ship’s narrative, complete with meticulously reconstructed interiors like the Grand Staircase and the First Class Parlour Suite. These settings, paired with the authentic artefacts, provide a poignant glimpse into the lives of those aboard on that ill-fated night.
Tragedy, heroism, sacrifice, survival and loss – these are themes the Titanic evokes which continue to resonate today, with people of all ages across the globe,’ said Museums Victoria CEO & Director Lynley Crosswell.

After receiving accolades in Paris and the USA, TITANIC: The Artefact Exhibition is set to anchor at Melbourne Museum from 16 December 2023.
