Go Behind The Scenes To Meet Face Of Variety On King William

Glam got a sneak peek of the fashion to go on show for Variety On King William this year ahead of the reveal of this year’s face for Adelaide’s favourite long lunch.

To celebrate Adelaide’s love affair with China (and it’s quite an affair), Variety On King William have announced that the theme for their 2016 street showcase, long lunch and fashion show, will be ‘Escape To The Orient’.

Capturing the latest trends in Adelaide, as well as incorporating influences from both 70’s and 90’s fashion legacy, Variety on King William will place a modern twist on the traditional Chinese wardrobe with fresh spring and summer colours, which will captured the essence of King William Road retailers.

Guests will again enjoy a beautiful fashion show on Adelaide’s longest runway. Expect to see the latest Spring/Summer ready to wear trends with a focus on race-wear and party dressing from King William Road retailers. This year’s focus upon silk, lace and constructing different layers of texture will be sure to turn heads and excite the inner fashionista in all of us with balmy summer nights ahead of us.

Keenly anticipated is the four-course menu with a Chinese influence, oozing spring flavours prepared by some of King William Road’s best restaurants and food suppliers. Food will be matched with South Australian wines from Tomich Wines, Wicks Estate and Fox Gordon.

But the hero of the day it appears will be the face of the 2016 Variety On King William: Amber Durney, a young professional who originated from Sydney but has travelled and worked with stylists from all over the world, is just one of the professionals who will be modelling these new trends. Her career includes fashion shoots for magazines including dolly, Rush, Vogue Australia and Cleo Bride. Recently she walked the Australian Prada show and has previously featured in Australian Fashion Week walks for labels such as Gypsea, flannel, Toni Maticevski, We Are handsome, Watsonxwatson and Michael Losordo.

We joined Amber in the Himeji Garden earlier this week, as she trailed some of the fashion to be featured as part of the catwalk, including a striking restructured white-laced Kimono with the recognisable cherry blossom in her hair:

Once again, the day-long showcase will support Variety SA – The Children’s Charity and the great work they do with SA kids. Table at the ong lunch have sold out for the past three years, so get in quick to avoid disappointment.

Variety on King William is on Friday 21 October 2016, 12pm – 3.30pm. Tickets costs $150pp or $1500 for a table of 10 and can be purchased online – www.kingwilliamroad.com.au or go direct to purchase here.
