This July, the Adelaide Hills are calling, and Golding Wines is answering with the ultimate all-in winter celebration. As part of this year’s Winter Reds festival, Golding Wines is turning up the heat in a collaboration with Vinteloper and The Caledonian Hotel for a weekend of food, wine, and seriously good times.
What makes this event stand out is the partnership between three local legends. Golding Wines and Vinteloper, both neighbours in the Hills and survivors of the 2019 bushfires, have come together to offer a two-stop experience. The Caledonian Hotel in North Adelaide has joined the fun as the start and end point for the day. The crew have also taken care of travel logistics, so you can simply show up and enjoy.
“We are part of a collaborative wine community in the Adelaide Hills and we really enjoy fostering that. We felt working together with Vinteloper would offer guests two different and unique experiences in one day, as well as making their planning very easy,” shared Golding Wines co-founder Lucy Golding.
“It was hard to go past the opportunity to team up with Vinteloper, one of our closest northern Hills neighbours, as they embark on hosting the first Winter Reds event at their beautiful new cellar door. We have known Dave for many years, we love his wines and his brand philosophy, and we both experienced some pretty difficult times due to the 2019 bushfires. It’s great to be collaborating with them and creating an offering that showcases the beauty of both of our venues and some seriously good wines.
“We have had a long relationship with Fiona at The Caledonian Hotel in North Adelaide, and we have co-hosted several wine dinners with them over the years. We love what they offer, so The Caledonian was a natural choice when finding a partner to work with as a city-based start and end point to the day.”
Taking place over the last weekend in July, Golding Wines’ Winter Wine Fest will be one of the hottest events in the Winter Reds calendar. The Lobethal cellar door will be setting the vibe by transforming its barn and outdoor areas with heated marquees and chilled tunes from DJ Tania of Choons & Moovz. For $70 you will receive your take-home regional glass, have all of your transport covered, enjoy breakfast and a glass of sparkling to start your day, as well as two fantastic stops at Golding Wines and Vinteloper with a first pour of wine at each venue.

Across the weekend, you’ll be able to kick off your adventure at The Caledonian with a sparkling breakfast, a breakfast roll and a glass of Last Hurrah bubbles that will set the tone for what’s to come. Then jump on the loop bus that’ll take you straight to Golding Wines and Vinteloper, with a complimentary glass of wine waiting at each stop.
As for the food, you’ll want to come hungry. At Golding, expect dishes like beef osso bucco, gnocchi or porcini mushroom arancini with truffle aioli. Over at Vinteloper, Gondola Gondola is taking over the kitchen with Southeast Asian dishes like a red wine-infused Bo Kho stew served with crusty Bahn Mi.
As the state’s biggest seasonal wine event, Winter Reds is all about showcasing the region’s cool climate red wine. During the day, you can enjoy everything from light Pinot Noir to robust Shiraz. There’ll also be mulled wine, sparkling Shiraz, and a full line-up of whites and sparklings on offer.

“Rain, hail, or shine, you will find fantastic food and wine on offer, outdoor fire pits to enjoy, cosy indoor spots to mingle, great music, and if you feel inclined, there is always an afternoon dance floor session waiting for you to put your stamp on it,” shares Lucy.
This event really celebrates all that makes Adelaide Hills wine so special. There’s no better time to get amongst it and enjoy some damn good wine.
