There’s a lot to love about Golding Wines. Situated on the outskirts of Lobethal, deep in the Adelaide Hills, the winery boasts a giant NEST for private degustations, hosts wine safari and picnic experiences, and also enjoys its own food destination, Ginkgo Restaurant. But right now, we want to talk about the heart and soul of the winery – the wines.
Golding Wines is no stranger to the wonderful world of wine, winning Best Sparkling Wine at the 2022 Royal Adelaide Wine Show for its 2016 Marjorie Blanc de Blancs. The winery certainly made a splash, also receiving a gold medal for its 2022 Ombre Gamay and bronze medals for their 2022 La Francesa Savagnin and 2022 Purveyor Pinot.
To celebrate the Golding Wines’ 20th anniversary, the winery is launching two new drops just in time for Christmas and the summer months. We fully intend to prepare for warm, balmy nights with Golding’s brand new Sparkling Rosé and Sparkling Shiraz, promising to be a delicious centrepiece for your Christmas Day celebration.
Sparkling wines are something Golding Wines’ loves to create and loves to do well. In addition to the Marjorie Blanc de Blancs – which was also awarded a gold medal and trophy for Champion Sparkling Wine at the National Cool Climate Wine Show – other bubbles, such as their Last Hurrah Sparkling, have become huge crowd pleasers at the cellar door.
In fact, the Goldings are so passionate about their sparklings, that they participate in a multi-site sparkling experience shared with Croser at Petaluma called the Effervescence Experience.
Now adding two sparklings to the collection, Lucy Golding of Golding Wines says the new Sparkling Rosé and Sparkling Shiraz are the perfect odes to a magical 20 years.
“We thought that there are some things in life worth celebrating, and our 20th anniversary of producing wines under our Golding label was one definitely one of them,” says Lucy.
“It’s been quite the ride to get here! What better way to do that than with a celebration wine like sparkling. Our new Sparkling Shiraz is a one-off limited release created specially to mark this special occasion.
“Our new Sparkling Rosé is here to stay as a permanent member of our wine family and is made with 100% pinot noir, a variety so well suited to our cool climate region in the Adelaide Hills.”
Golding Wines’ brand new Sparkling Rosé, Lucy shares, is pale blush in colour with aromas of strawberry and pink grapefruit. The Sparkling Shiraz, however, is dark and voluptuous, with juice plums and layers of spice.
To taste the new sparkling additions, you can visit the Golding Wines cellar door at 52 Western Branch Road, Lobethal. To skip the tasting and go straight to the buying, you can also peruse the Golding Wines collection online.
