Goo Goo Dolls set to rock Australia with their first headline tour in over 20 years this summer

The Goo Goo Dolls have announced their “Summer Anthem” headline tour in Australia for February and March 2025, their first in over two decades, featuring special guests Thirsty Merc.

Goo Goo Dolls is returning to to Australia for their “Summer Anthem” headline tour, in February and March 2025. This tour marks the band’s first extensive visit to the region in over two decades. They will be joined by Australian rock band Thirsty Merc as special guests.

The Goo Goo Dolls, formed by John Rzeznik and Robby Takac in 1986 in Buffalo, NY, have been a staple in the music scene for over three decades. They have sold 15 million records worldwide, received four GRAMMY® Award nominations, and achieved nearly a dozen platinum and gold singles. On this tour, fans can expect a setlist filled with their major hits, including songs that have become radio mainstays.

Christo Van Egmond, Managing Director of TEG Van Egmond, shared, “Having witnessed the incredible show that Goo Goo Dolls deliver on stage when they toured with Matchbox 20, I couldn’t book them to return to our shores soon enough. Their brilliant back-catalogue of pop-rock hits are the perfect blend of nostalgia-inducing and hope-inspiring. For fans young and old – I believe this will be the feel-good tour of the summer.”

The tour will kick off in Canberra at the AIS Arena on Thursday, February 20th and will visit Sydney, Newcastle, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Melbourne. It will wrap up with a performance at Margaret Court Arena in Melbourne on Sunday, March 2nd. Adelaide fans will be able to enjoy the tour at the AEC Theatre on Thursday February 27th.

Throughout their career, the Goo Goo Dolls have carved a niche for themselves with their heartfelt rock music. Their multiple platinum albums—including ‘A Boy Named Goo’ and ‘Dizzy Up The Girl’—have propelled them to significant heights in the music industry. Their hit “Iris” from ‘Dizzy Up The Girl’ stayed at #1 on the Hot 100 for 18 consecutive weeks, further cementing the band’s place in music history.

The band’s continued relevance is evidenced by the track “Iris” finding new life and going viral on TikTok, leading to its reach of eight-times-platinum status recently. Their influence is also noted in covers by artists such as Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers, and Maggie Rogers.

For fans and new listeners alike, the “Summer Anthem” tour by the Goo Goo Dolls promises an opportunity to experience the enduring charm and influence of their music firsthand.
