Two things you wouldn’t think go together, wine and playgrounds. On paper, it sounds like a bizarre disaster waiting to happen. In reality, Fruitful Pursuit’s Wine Playground is one of the premier wine events in the state, and it’s returning for its sixth year.
Established here in Adelaide in 2014, Fruitful Pursuit is a collection of wine makers, professionals, and enthusiasts. Despite their founding in Adelaide, the group now operate both here and the United Kingdom. Their goal? To share their unique vision and explore the connections between wine and people.
Enter the Wine Playground. Held at nationally acclaimed wine bar Good Gilbert, the event is a showcase of the very best Australia’s winemakers has to offer. Over 50 wines between 19 winemakers will be available for tasting, each one personally selected for their taste, craft or authenticity.
The format of the event will be slightly different this year when compared to previous events. For starters, one big tasting session will run across three areas: Good Gilbert bar, their carpark, and their upcoming extension. The two-session plan from last year has also been changed into one single event, running from midday to 6pm.
Tickets include entry into the event, snacks (courtesy of Good Gilbert) and access to the tasting. In addition, you can join in on the discussion forum, led by the one and only Katie Spain.
Katie Spain is something of a rockstar in the world of wine. A born storyteller, she channels her talent for journalism into her role as MC for the event. She will be hosting an open-air forum, facilitating a discussion panel on topics of interest within the Australian wine industry.
The ultimate aim of the Wine Playground is to bring groups together and enjoy mutual loves; wine, and the art of making it. After a rocky previous outing due to COVID restrictions and uncertainty, this year’s event will be one to look forward to.
