Goolwa Discovery Park resort-style pool set to open on Boxing Day

A new resort-style pool is set to open on Boxing Day at the Goolwa Discovery Park. The campgrounds waterpark, however, won’t open as intended.

Construction is now complete on a new resort-style pool which was set to open on Boxing Day at the Goolwa Discovery Park.

The campgrounds waterpark, however, won’t open on the 26th as intended due to delays associated with Covid-19.

The space is a kids paradise with a new waterpark, plus an outdoor cinema, and a coastal nature playground will be completed in the coming months. The property upgrades will also include 60 new accommodation cabins, 100 new and improved caravan and camping sites and improved amenities.

In the interim, the Discovery Park has announced they have installed a giant slip and slide to be enjoyed by all. Almost all elements of the adventure playground are also ready to go, and any sections that aren’t ready to be used yet will be sectioned off.

The ground was broken on the site in July kicking off construction of the $22 million investment designed to turbocharge family tourism in the area.

The Goolwa development is part of the G’day Group’s $40 million vision to boost day trips in the Fleurieu region after purchasing the McCracken Country Club and Goolwa Camping and Tourist Park (now called Discovery Parks – Goolwa) last year for a major revamp.

The development will also allow access to a neighbouring skate park, BMX track, new pump track and basketball stadium.

Guests staying at the Discovery Parks Goolwa will be able to access the waterparks and facilities free of charge. Day passes will be accessible for the local community depending on capacity.

Discovery Parks chief operations officer Matt Lang said the company aimed to complete the upgrade’s first stage – the campsites, attractions and about 30 cabins – in time for the summer holidays.

The rest of the cabins would be built within about two years.
