It’s official – Grant Burge Sparkling Pinot Noir Chardonnay NV has been voted the nation’s best bubbles.
Amongst a field of high profile competitors at the Australian Liquor Industry Awards, the popular Barossa winery won the trophy for Best Australian Sparkling Wine.
The Grant Burge Sparkling Pinot Noir Chardonnay NV blitzed the Domaine Chandon Brut NV, Jacob’s Creek Chardonnay Pinot Noir, Jansz NV, Orlando Trilogy Cuvee Brut, Yellowglen Pink Sparkling NV, Yellowglen Vintage Bella and Yellowglen Yellow Sparkling NV, to take out the award. “We’ve had a huge run of awards this year, but there’s something pretty extraordinary about being acknowledged for our winemaking amongst our peers,” Grant said.
The trade recognition closely follows a gold medal and trophy awarded earlier this year at Australia’s Wine Industry Design Competition for the Sparkling Pinot Noir Chardonnay’s innovative packaging and design.
“This is the perfect season for sparkling, with the Spring Racing Carnival, fashion festivals and summer parties, and we hope this award will ensure the Grant Burge Sparkling Pinot Noir Chardonnay NV will be on every table,” he said.
Made in the traditional method, from handpicked grapes, the blend spends 30-32 months on tirage before disgorging and liqueuring.
After a spate of global and national accolades for different wines in the last eight weeks, including an International Trophy at the Decanter World Wine Awards, Grant said he is very proud of the versatility of his Barossa winemaking team.
“To take out some of the industry’s top awards in everything from fortifieds and red wines to sparkling, shows that we have a great winemaking and viticultural team,” he said.
Attended by over 800 trade representatives, The Australian Liquor Industry Awards celebrate high performing liquor brands, as well as venues, suppliers and retailers.
The Grant Burge Sparkling Pinot Noir Chardonnay NV (750mL) has an RRP of $29.95 and is available from all fine wine retailers nationally. It is also available in a piccolo size (200mL) for $9.00.
