Grants released to help build community connections

Non-for-profit grants have now been released for those in the community who wish to forge a stronger relationship as a collective.

Grants of up to $10,000 are now available for South Australian not-for-profit organisations looking to increase community participation, connection and resilience.

The grants aim to help community organisations grow their programs, projects and facilities to reduce social isolation and build community wellbeing.

The grants can be used to improve an area of service or a facility purchasing equipment, resources, supplies or infrastructure, or community enhancement activities and initiatives.

Previous successful applicants have included Bedford Phoenix Incorporated for computing classes, Uniting Communities Incorporated for volunteer training and the National Trust of South Australia for a disability access ramp.

Minister for Human Services Nat Cook expresses the importance of cultivating relationships within the community in order to get a richer understanding of its needs.

“Community connection is more vital than ever and is something I care about deeply. I’m delighted that one of the first announcements I can share since my appointment as Minister for Human Services is this welcome boost in community funding” he says.

Cook continues by saying, “whether it is to fund community activities, purchase new equipment or improve a facility, I encourage local not-for-profits to take this opportunity to apply for a grant and bring their next great project to life.

Grants SA project funding is a tool that not-for-profit community organisations may use to improve community participation, wellbeing, and quality of life for people living and working in South Australia. People and/or communities experiencing vulnerability or disadvantage are the core target group for this funding.

The Grants SA 2021-2022 Minor Round is open now, with applications closing at 3pm on Thursday 12 May 2022.
